Also, you can't blame them. They are a BUSINESS, in an industry that is rapidly declining. Growth, expansion, new readers, and pulling in fans of their films is what will keep food on their table, and a jet in the garage. I guess I have a hard time seeing any of this as belittling the X-Men mythos or Xavier’s legacy.
Xavier has been a callous, manipulative ol’ sod since the initial creation of the book. Sitting there lusting after the barely pubescent Jean, conning Changling into taking a bullet for him and then letting his students think him dead for moths, recruiting a whole team of new mutants whom he sent to their deaths only to have their memories erased from history, selling Jean and the team out for a piece of Shi’ar tail, strangling to death his unborn twin sister, trapping the Danger room sentience as a slave, being a founding member of the Illuminati shadow-cabinet… Face facts - the guy’s kind of a dick. Nothing in this ‘First X-Men’ is going to besmirch saint Xavier’s legacy any more than what’s already been done.

It's sad to see Marvel having their own clique... Like it was mentioned earlier, they always tend to use the same old artists, and rarely let any newcomers into their little club. Neal is a great guy, and I've had the pleasure of working with him twice, but c'Mon Marvel, give the little guy a break. There are other talented artists out there, also trying to make a name for themselves.
