These three appear to say that widow is having a romance with hawkeye or something (I guess for the movie?). Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure the Secret Avengers romance is between Valkyrie and Venom. I think all three books are running completely separate plotlines.

I wouldn't be surprised if they break current relationships just to hook up BW and Hawkeye for the sake of their movie momentum.

Winter Soldier #9 also has someone dressed like Black Widow, though not necessarily her, in a gun-wielding embrace with another man.

Here's the thing, though. The movie doesn't really paint them as lovers. More like two friends who share a close bond. Though a case could be made for Widow carrying a torch for Hawkeye, Clint comes across much more as a big brother.

If nothing else, it'd put the brakes on on Bendis' Hawkwoman ship, so I don't see it lasting. Though I could also see Bendis writing the two as having a relationship relapse merely as a stepping stone to Clint ultimately rejecting her to be Jessica Drew, and Natasha then acting affirming to his choice.

I think Bucky and Natasha are bound for a break-up sooner or later. Not that I don't think like reading them together, it's just the way of comics.

It's Bendis. He has no regard for continuity. Bucky and Widow belong together. As do Hawkeye and Mockingbird.
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!

Movies aside, Black Widow and Clint did sort of debut together. They have a history dating back a long long time.

This isn't like throwing Hawkeye and Spider-Woman together... it's not random at all. I think IF they were to hook up, they'd have the history behind it to justify it.

Ugh. No. Let Mockingbird do her own thing for a while. I want Mockingbird single and awesome for a while. Have you ever read any of her comics from before she became Mockingbird? When she was running around with Ka-Zar? She was great. Strong, smart, independent, able to hold her own with Ka-Zar physically, and more than a match for him verbally. She was never waiting around for him to rescue her, she was too busy trying to figure out a way to rescue herself, and complete her mission while doing it. (He'd always end up rescuing her, of course, but the point is she wasn't thinking about him.)

Then she hooked up with Hawkeye. And she became "Hawkeye's wife." And then, "Hawkeye's dead wife."

She's just way too cool a character for her to be constantly overshadowed by a man. I want her to be that strong, bold, and independent character again. For now, that means keeping her single, and especially keeping her away from Hawkeye.

Also, no one "belongs together." Any couple can be broken up, and the characters thrown together with someone else. Some couples have a really good chemistry, but that doesn't mean they're "meant to be" or anything like that. I like Bucky and Widow as a couple. I do. I feel like this might be the best relationship she's ever had - I never really felt her with Daredevil or Hawkeye. But they'll break up eventually. And I'll be fine with it when it happens. And if she hooks up with Bruce Banner after, well, I'll be fine with that, too, as long as whoever's writing it does a good job.

Natasha debuted by herself. Clint hooked up with her the same issue he was introduced, but after he already put on a purple costume and fixed himself up with trick arrows. It's a minor thing, but their origins don't rely on each other, which has let them develop into their own characters over time.

Anyway, from the way they've talked about the new Hawkeye series, it seems like Clint/Jessica is the direction for the next few months, at least. Bucky and Natasha fighting in Winter Soldier clearly has something to do with the villain of the next arc, not Clint. And like I said, the Secret Avengers romance is Venom/Valkyrie. Remender pretty much confirmed that the romance story in his book features Valkyrie, taking into account the events of the Fearless.

I am sure Natasha and Bucky will break up eventually. Most comic book couples do. And maybe Brubaker is doing it in this upcoming Winter Soldier arc. (At this point I don't really think so, because that would wipe out Bucky's supporting cast, but maybe!) But I don't think these solicits have much to do with each other, and I think we'll see the Clint/Jess thing go on a bit longer. And given that Marvel doesn't seem to feel the need to promote Natasha much at all for this movie, I can't say I see them mandating her get back with Clint after 40+ years because of this movie.

Given the fatality rate of DD's girlfriends, Natasha was probably lucky to get out when she did.

Matt was a huge jerk to her. He was really not over Karen at the time, and taking him out of Hell's Kitchen made it worse— and I think Natasha sort of got the brunt of that. She cared for him a lot more openly than he cared for her, and she was smart and right to end it.

Honestly, that's probably the best thing to come out of the whole Bucky/Natasha development. Previously Natasha was sort of in a romantic rut where they wouldn't let her get over Matt. Now, despite everything I've just said, I do like Matt and Natasha, they have a fascinating (if slightly toxic) chemistry. But the stories the past decade or so haven't really presented Natasha as a viable romantic partner, just as a distraction to Matt's romance du jour, and I think she deserves better than that, especially since that was why she left him in the first place. For one or two storylines, that's realistic, but it had become an unfortunate status quo.

I guess I'll be the first to say it, Bendis isn't writing either of those books. If something happening in Secret Avengers, that'd be on Remender. That being said, I hope not. Bucky and Natasha are my favorite couple and their dynamic is the best part about Winter Soldier. As well as Captain America during Bucky's tenure. I really hope Valkyrie and Flash hook-up. That's such an odd romance but their chemistry has been great.
    Hey, Thanos, baby!

Think they would work better now that Matt is burying his angst as deep as he can
