Default How powerful is Asura?(Asura's Wrath)

Just finished the game, and I immediately thought of pitting Asura against Kratos because they're both "gods" who have gone to "hell" multiple times, and both have major anger management issues. Then I realized that Asura would probably curbstomp Kratos will little trouble. So how powerful is Asura exactly? He had some pretty impressive feats including:

-destroying a planet sized enemy with a volley of punches
    -surviving atmospheric re-entry
-getting smashed by an enemy that weighed 100+ tons
-destroying an entire fleet of ships
-having a second form that rivaled a giant orbital laser cannon of death in power

By the end of the game it seemed like his rage had really become a plot device, but still, the guy had some pretty impressive feats. Where do you think he fits on the power scale and more importantly, who would be a good opponent for him?

    Err...

There is downloadable content around that shows the game's true ending, the fate of Asura, what happens to his daughter and what the Golden Spider truly is.

Without spoiling too much, I'll say that in the final few chapters he does stuff more impressive by far than all that comes before. Most of that can be explained by him getting a power-up of sorts (rather, the means to channel his wrath without burning his body from the inside out).

at very least his destructive output was being pushed way past planet busting I think.

Yeah, I'm planning on buying it come pay day. Pretty shitty of Capcom to actually make their customers buy the ending.

I guess they thought that no-one would appreciate the ending, if they weren't PISSED OFF first. But yer, they'd need to be supremely confident in their product to even propose such a thing. Its a new sales concept for sure, though.

Makes worry about Dragon's Dogma.. seriously, I haven't bought a Capcom title in years unless you count the Downloadable Games of previous Generations on PSN such as Marvel vs Capcom 2, and Street Fighter 3. Still with how they are currently running their business i wouldn't be surprised if they found away to give us half a game in that too.
Rogue and Bishop's daughter would be called Discharge, and she'd touch people and drain all or some of their bioelectrical energy out of them causing them to either die or fall unconscious. She could then use this energy to extend her own life, heal herself, enhance her physical abilities (speed, strength, stamina,) or discharge it as various energy beams.

I just bought the last episodes yesterday, all I have to say in response to this comment is: MAJOR understatement.

I'm almost glad Capcom is likely not to make a sequel given the resolutions of the ending. It would be downright frightening to think how much more overpowered Asura could become in a second game.

Don't put it past Capcom is all I'm gonna say. They even found a way to put Akuma on steroids again, and produced OniKuma. It looks like they've taken a page from Gainax' book and decided that in order to create sales it was necessary to let their creative staff off its collective leash. For now at least, they're done with the Indian mythologies. I don't even want to know what they might be planning next.

It looks to me like they're trying to go the way of Madman Entertainment; i.e. box up a certain number of episodes and do a first release, then box the whole series up and do a second release when interest has died down, with extra material that was actually included in the original JPN distribution(i.e. Air Gear artbook etc.) to get repeat sales.

Which should work with any more Asura's Wrath titles, because then the player will be DOUBLY PISSED OFF and capable of completing practically any stage.

Apparently he's alright against Super Saiyans with his Mantra form.

SSJ Akuma. Who the hell would have thunk it!

When I saw Oni Akuma I couldn't help but remember the Blue Superman.

    Not a great feeling.

If you think of Shin Akuma as Red Superman, it becomes even less appealing. But yer, that's some insane durability he's got. From the looks of it, Asura should even be able to tank Z's moon-buster. Considering that he's able to withstand the shot of a LHW-user, thats damned impressive.

Considering the moon got fixed, broke again then busted so many times in that battle(I can't believe Oni's striking power is enough to put Asura through the damned moon...that's way beyond Hulk level stuff IIRC) it's so retarded that it forces you to enjoy it, kind of like Gurren Lagann. But yer, its a damned shame Capcom wasn't the one to do Rayman Rabbids. Because then they could have their own League of Anger: Evil Ryu, Oni, Asura, and oh, about 100,000,000 Rabbids all going DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAH~!!!!

The only thing that pisses me off is that even with these feats, Asura should be above them.

Ah well. PIS is a helluva drug.
