Redwing reminds my of the work boots.
There's Flamebird, that's not being used in the nDCU.
Maybe Darkwing (although it's too close to Nightwing and Disney might be a little miffed).
Or any other bird reference not being used (sparrow, eagle, falcon, osprey).

The problem with using Redwing is that it was already the name of a Team Titans hero in that mercifully short run. I guess it wouldn't be hard for creators to reclaim the name for Tim in the post-Flashpoint continuity. However, it would be ideal if they could find a way to give the codename some type of connection to Tim. I think it would allow for more personal claim and permanency, which has worked for Dick despite some folks seeing "Nightwing" strictly as a Kryptonian legacy.
In pre-Crisis history, during a vigilante adventure in the bottle city of Kandor, Superman and Jimmy used the names Nightwing and Flamebird in homage to Batman & Robin. Then in post-Crisis, Nightwing became Krypton's mythical vigilante. In any case, Dick took the name because he was iconically influenced by two houses [Batman and Superman] and wanted a name to reflect that history. I think that is why Dick has been successful at maintaining this mantle, seeing that Chris Kent's time as Nightwing was as temporary as Bruce being dead.
Even though I don't like the name Flamebird it would go well with the pairing of Nightwing since both names are part of the lore.
As for the costume I loved the older one because it was a cross between his old Robin outfit and the look of Batman. it acknowledged both his past and his possible future. The old look made it seem like he really was growing past his "Robin" persona. This outfit makes him look more like Robin, which is probably what they were going for for the book.

In my "The Bat" series, Tim Drake became Reaver while wearing his Red Robin Costume.

Vulpes: Legion! We have a problem!
I think Red Robin is an adequate, if not terribly interesting or easy to differentiate name. In continuity, if Tim allowed anyone to call him by his real name ever, then having a bad codename would be far less of an issue.
I would like to say for the record that this is the FIRST TIME I've withheld dong when someone was so desperately asking for some.
