Red Robin, Red Hood, Robin...too many reds and too many robins.
Red Robin, Red Hood, Robin...too many reds and too many robins.
Blue-footed Booby.
whats wrong with rocking robin?
Part of me likes it because it keeps his Robin heritage, but the name does not roll off the tongue well, and as mentioned, with Red Hood, and Robin (damian) it feels bland
How about changing Red Hood to Hood? And Red Robin to Red?
The point is that it acknowledges that he's still Robin, even if he's no longer in that role officially. And since his costume has a lot of red in it, more so than Damian's costume, Tim is Red Robin.
One thing I like about Nightwing, its not age restrictive. Dick can forever be Nightwing. I love that we are acknowledging Tim's past with Robin, but Robin is seen as training wheels for young heroes. Will Tim have to transition for Red Robin to something else as he gets older? What Im trying to say is, it doesn't feel like a permanent solution to the problem. He needs his "nightwing" role. I suppose I'm fine with Red Robin being that, but such a rough name, being so permanent, its hard to adjust to
he doesn't need a better codename, he just needs a better costume. like his pre-Flashpoint one.

I don't know what's being said about Dick's origin as Nightwing, but he was forced out of it previously. And the name comes from Kryptonian lore. Or it used to. Tim didn't graduate from being Robin. That was taken from him. While he initially believed that he wouldn't be Robin forever, he was more than content to continue in that role until he was ready to step up to being Batman or until he retired.
It's only going to be permanent so long as Damian is around. Until we know what his fate will be once Morrison finishes his run, it's difficult to say what the future will hold.
What about rich billionaire son of Batman No.3 ?
Redbird would be acceptable, but for my money nothing will beat Redwing. I mean, he's a "graduate of the Robin program" so homaging Nightwing is an easy move. Even Batwing homages Nightwing, and I can't remember exactly when Batwing's name turned up in the 70's/80's story, but Dick becoming Nightwing was a new concept then.
So it recognizes Tim's graduation from being Robin, homages one of his best friends, brothers and mentors in Dick Grayson, and indicates that he's retaining more of the "Robin" elements - the color red, the bird-themes - than Dick did. After all, Dick still a bird basically re-embraced his acrobat/trapeze lifestyle with his motifs, with a slight predatory bird angle.
Yes, Redwing. Just to delineate him from Robin a bit more and separate him from the burger franchise.
