There is no God in the Marvel Universe?

That kind of thing happens all the time with the Marvel/DC system of writing. Is there any piece of previous continuity that HASN'T been contradicted or retconned at this point?

One thing to note that potentially favors a religious view is the existence of the character "Death". Apparently Death has appeared a bunch of times, though I've only seen it in Deadpool. And although deadpool is really silly and sometimes things happen that aren't cannon, the Deadpool/Death annual was totally cannon and by far the best Deadpool comic ever. It establishes that when Deadpool dies he does meet death's female embodiment.

This could easily be written off as simply Deadpool's own perception of what dying is like. He does manage to stay alive, so there's no proof that he's officially dead. Although, according to wikipedia Death usually appears in the female form regardless of who it is she's appearing to.. so if anyone can confirm that, it could be argued that the fact that she appears the same way to characters who don't know each other proves that she is not an imaginary figure.

Eh, she's not really the angel of death, or anything like that. She's an abstract, like Eternity, Infinity, Oblivion, and all the others.

The Fantastic Four, once went to Heaven to get Ben Grimm back, met a guy that looked familiar to them all and a lot of people round here would call 'King'.

Various books have made allusions to Heaven, angels and God, with one of the most recent being Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider run where they helped stop a coup by a rouge angel.


So yes there is a 'God' in the Marvel universe above the other 'gods' that exist there and he/she/it may or may not be called 'The One Above All'.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but Kirby was made God in the 616 during Waid's FF run. Was a fun story and good way to treat Kirby.

I know Thor and asguardians are "alien races" that call themselves gods, but what about characters going to hell or heaven, religious characters and even 'The One Above All'?

so this really happen? That's stupid. The Asgardians are Gods not aliens pretending to be Gods. That's just an Earth X story and it should have stayed an Earth X story. Way to ruin yet more continuity Marvel.

How does he (or we) know it was truly God?

Unless it's retconned down the line at some point, it's pretty clear in regards to the story that he was talking to God.

There's a Heaven and Hell, angels and demons, so how can there not be A God and a Devil? Pretty sure the Devil's canon too.
