This ,right here, is elitist. There really is no way around that.

Now, having read many of your posts I know you have listed reasons elsewhere why you don't feel the story works, and I tend to agree, so I know that your estimation of the quality is based on more than your personal taste. At the same time though saying, "If it was good, I would like it" does place yourself in a false position of authority, which is never a position you want to place yourself in when having a discussion with others. It's just poor manners really.

Feel free to disagree, that is often what makes for good discussion, but when doing so remember to be respectful of others and to express yourself intelligently. That means you should try to refrain from falling back on glib answers, they're disrespectful to your peers and really do nothing to forward your own beliefs.

I'm not singling you out here Holmes, this message goes for everyone here.

    Be excellent to each other.

Okay at this point, I owe an explanation of that quote. It wasn't intended to be elitist. Or I should say I didn't mean in THAT way for it to be interested as so. I'm fully aware that whether I liked it or not is subjective, and so is determining whether the book is good or not. I should have made that more clear, but honestly, I was just using the same logic as the person I was replying too, who isn't really being any less elitist.

Godlike was being more relativist than elitist, but I get what you're saying, hence the general recommendation to all.

There is an objective good and bad to comics, or any art form for that matter, so you can't dismiss criticism out of hand simply because tastes vary, at the same time though there is a certain amount of room for subjectivity to it as well so what didn't work for you might work for another. Which comes back to what I said, be respectful of others and articulate your ideas intelligently. If you do those things you greatly decrease the risks of being misunderstood and discussions will tend to be much more interesting.

I very much disagree. I can name a hundred things that I know are not very good, or even are very bad, but I still like them. Like Star Wars.

And there's stuff out there that is very good indeed, but I can't stand them. The first two Godfather films come to mind.

Quality and liking something don't always go hand in hand.

'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

i just read the first vol.1 of Batman and i really enjoyed, one of best reads i had in months actually, also because he love Capullo's art a lot. He's perfect for the book imo. The story really grabbed me, which happened quite rarely lately with a superhero book. The only tiny problem i had was the way Bruce Wayne was portrayed. I guess, the Bruce Wayne in my mind just speaks differently.

My biggest problem with this story so far is that Dick's 'talon tooth' has gone undetected for so long. It would have been noticed years ago

I have high expectations for Snyder´s next story on Batman, it´s almost %90 that the villain is the Joker, so in that case, I think he really will show off his true dark skills, and once we read that story, as with Black Mirror, we will compare to the Owls, and will be thinking "damn.. is that the same writer?"
