Exactly why i dropped Batman from my pull list despite i was hyped for it after his good Tec run that was far from game changing, epic story.

He needs to tell good Batman stories that isnt event, game changing. Owls was too much game changing for a new series.

Talk about it was not what i expected quality wise after his quality Tec run.
    Pull List:
    The Walking Dead,Fatale,Near Death,Storm Dogs,Happy,BPRD,XO-Manowar
    American Vampire,Animal Man,Swamp Thing
    Daredevil, Winter Soldier,Indestructible Hulk

He certainly has the chops to be up there with the best.
I'd recommend you read his prose collection, Voodoo Heart, if you like Snyder's other work. It's certainly different from his work in comics, but I've been reading through it recently and I've enjoyed it quite a bit.

And while this might still be true with Snyder's Batman, I'm actually not sure if he's going to pull it off this time, it's a feeling of excitement of not knowing that batman is gonna "win" everytime around. It's a feeling I never had when reading other writers batman titles. And the whole Court of Owl thing going on right now is freaking amazing. Add Capulo's gosuftw BBQ sauve pencils in there and for me you have the best Batman title ever made.
With that said, I hope Snyder will be writing Batman for a long, long, long time.

What do you guys think ?
It's right up your alley, and that's excellent. Stick with it, it's a solid enjoyable read for a lot of reasons. Capullo is slick and one of my new favorite draftsmen in all of comics. But you'll be hard-pressed to find a lot of older readers/forum posters who'll call it the "best Batman they've ever read". For starters, it's way too early to judge that kind of thing. A few years ago I kind of felt the same way about the Brubaker/Rucka era, but when I look back on it ... honestly the memorable bits were all in Gotham Central.

Next step; find and read Gotham Central.

No. I've dropped this since it went to 3.99. I don't fee that the story is as good as people make it out to be. There are long stretches in Snyder's stories where I find it goes way too slow . . . things don't develop as quickly as they should. I liked the Gordons' story, but the others have been psychologically taught thrillers. I'm not big on those kinds of stories.

I'd hoped that #5 would be the starting gun for the awesomeness on a creative scale but instead it sadly seems like it was the one spark of genius instead. "Batman" is good, don't get me wrong, but it has its faults, and the Talons haven't lived up to any sort of hype. They speak like schoolyard bullies and seeing them getting their asses kicked in 9 different books isn't helping their cause. Judge the run at it's end, though.

I was actually thinking of picking this up. I believe my LCS even stocks copies of it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Its certainly in my top five books at the moment but only time will tell if it'll be up there with the greats. You cant beat Morrisons run IMO

Absolutely the best Batman I've read in over 10 years! Also the only Batman I've read in over 10 years. For me, its very good but my memory goes pretty far back so iffy on the best ever read. I enjoy the ability to inject into the mythos of Gotham without changing what I've known for years. That's quite cool. The Court of Owls has been a really surprisingly good foe. Not only for their invasiveness of Batman's world but how difficult it will be to ever fully be sure they can be eradicated. Much more believable than a foe like the Joker in which I have to accept he's escaped from Arkham again. But I still love the Joker. So I willingly accept that. Its to be seen if I will accept a return of the Court in some manner. Certainly not a fan to the point I want them to pop up very often the same I love when the Joker does. Snyder's definitely makes an impact on Batman for me that I think may stay for some time from this point on. Hope he is on the title for a very long time. Then we might consider it 'the best ever'.

Come on, there are more than seventy years full of Batman stories, so to say Snyder's is the best seems to me quite a stretch. For me it is an enjoyable run, the last two issues were a bit of a let down, due to the whole owls crossover thing, but far away from Miller and others. Also you can't forget that the storyline about the owls hasn't even ended yet, so we will see how well it can compete with other, considered to be, memorable runs.

This is the correct answer. Englehart and Rogers' Detective Comics was, is and probably always will be my favourite Batman ever. It was just so damn awesome.

After that, it's probably Morrison & Co on Batman & Robin/Batman Inc, then Denny O'Neil, then Snyder. So it's in my top 5 at least.

It's the only Batman I've ever read. I didn't like how Batman seemed to be invincible and able to take out any hero in the universe 'with the proper planning'. For a normal human with gadgets, he just seemed way too powerful, and it seemed like Snyder brought his power levels back down to reality.

(pre-Snyder opinions based on hearing stories from people about Batman being able to take out insert name here, not from actually reading Batman comics)

Snyder's Batman doesn't seem to be even slightly different from most other Batman writers in that regard.

It's a trope mostly based on how Batman functions in the JLA, not his solo books.

'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

I was just going off of my impressions of Batman from what I'd heard from other people, which was enough to keep me away from Batman book, not that those impressions were completely correct.

Oh god no. Nowhere in top 25 Batman stories does Snyder's run fit.

TLH is good. But, it's not the best. I don't even know what I'd consider the best, but I know Year One and TDKR is up there for me.
