Something that really bothers me about Jpop culture when it comes to manga, anime and games even more then occasional cultural and belief insensitivity along with lack of political correctness is the paedophiliac, hebephilia and ephebophilia (preference for pubescent and post-pubescent kids) overtones that pop up sometimes whether it's in schoolgirl uniforms or innuendo filled moe.
I mean I think a large part of this has to do with the "kawaii" aesthetic which is a big thing in Japan and how kids are marketing demographic of some of shows and how kids are excellent to convey an idea of initial innocence that will undoubtly change but DANG!.How the heck do you justify something like an innuendo filled Lolita moe?.
It like has the same gravity/implications as sexualized clothing for little girls. It's like all there doing is peddling the Kawaii thing into pretty questionable territory when they do stuff like that.I know that in some countries (like the Phillipines,Canada and I think the .U.S.) that stuff is illegal on child pornography related charges. To be honest with the risk of running into that kind of stuff is the reason why I'm not interested in exploring moe stuff esp.apparently super popular ones like Azumanga Daioh, Haruhi and Lucky star. It's esp.uncomfortable to see preteen and teen girls shown that way esp.since I recently grew out of my teen years.Ugh,I'm not sure I would grown to like that stuff even if I was a preteen again!.I mean no offense to you if your into moe girl filled anime/manga.I hope it doesn't sound like I'm bashing it but I'm just saying my opinion on why I particulary don't like that particular chunk of Jpop.
One a less relevant note it also bothers me when there's like an implied thing going on between a girl and a much older guy.Off the top of my head an examples that comes to mind are Kenshiro and Lin in "Fist of the North star".Ack man!,I cant help but think of historical instances and countries in contemporary times where out of some distorted cultural practise little girls are married off to guys who are like way older when I see stuff like that.I know for one thing that after the Kaoru Kobayashi and Tsutomu Miyazaki trials anime censorship increased with regards stuff like this but is there anyway this stuff could ever distance itself from this negativity?.Note:still like Jpop but I wish that for the respect and benefit of everyone including itself it'd change this.
