    Does anybody know where Bendis actually got the name Fongji from? The only translation I can think of that would fit at all is "crazy chicken."

    Feh, first page has me trying to decipher it. I think it might be: 鳳子 which means "child of the Phoenix". I'm very certain that 鳳 is the correct "Fong", but there are possibly a hundred possibilities of what "Ji" might be.

    random fact: Fongjow translates to Phoenix Talon - a seasoned, chicken feet dish served at Chinese brunch (Dim Sum).

    Blu Berri - the TMI of Asian cultures.

    I guess it's not supposed to be pinyin then, or maybe Bendis thought "Fengzi" looked bad in print.

    Cantonese is what I presume anyway, "Fong" is too glaring to be ignored. If I'm correct, it would just be another example of Marvel being confused by Asian cultures.. >_>;;

    That's why they'd rather kill them off. Despite the errors, I think what Bendis is doing here is ambitious. I like what he has done with Fongji so far.

    I was going to ask if you like Sabre Marionette, then I remembered that one of the marionettes was named Blood Berry not Blue Berry. So, I ended up writing "lol nvm..."

    Great Factoids, btw. By any chance, have you been following Jeremy Lin's career?

    An Eurasian woman with red-hair who hosted the power of the phoenix in the 15th century. She was also that era's Immortal weapon of K'un-L'un. It is interesting to see that a non-telepathic character can become a Phoenix host. Because I am sick of scanners being the strongest mutants.

    It is only natural. Telepths are the highest caste of mutants.

    Fongji. more offensive. created by Bendis. ruining Phoenix history.

    Tangent: I used to have am artist friend who once drew a fanart of Psylocke as the Phoenix. It was beautiful, even though I'd rather it didn't happen in 616.
