True. Which really makes me wonder about the whole Batman-Catwoman history on Earth 2. The traditional story, that Batman and Catwoman were enemies, until Bruce reformed Selina, married her and settled down to a life of married bliss with her may well be out. So how DOES this work out? Bruce and Selina get married, have a child, then when the kid is around 11 or so, Bruce becomes a crime-fighting vigilante Batman, and Selina becomes a costumed burglar Catwoman...and husband and wife fight it out on the rooftops of Gotham night after night?! (if they are unaware of each other's identities, I foresee a Mr. and Mrs. Smith kind of situation here...)
He didn't specifically say, but knowing Robinson's work I assume he wanted to keep the classic 'reincarnated Egyptian prince' origin or some of the Golden Age back story which didn't jive with DC's 5-year timeline. The idea behind getting Daniel was likely to 'modernize' the character (unsuccessfully).
Given that Savage Hawkman is probably not long for this world and Robinson admitting that a meeting between Hawkman and Hawkgirl is "inevitable," I wouldn't be surprised to see the character cross over to Earth 2 permanently somewhere down the road...not like he has anywhere else to go.
Agreed, its totally crazy that they gave Daniels Hawkman over Robinson. Especially since I think it really would play to Robinson's strengths giving him a solo title.
An unashamed Bloodstone, Captain Britain, Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Bat-villain fanboy.
I'm glad to hear that Wildcat will appear and will have a main role too. Can't wait to see his new design alongside Atom's. I'm intrigued by this new amazon character, any of you think that maybe this amazon could be Lyta or Helena Kosmatos instead of a brand new character? I'm happy to see that more characters will appear and have a role, that gives me hopes to see again Doctor Midnight and Cyclone ^^ !!!!!!!

That was supposedly what they were planning to do with the DCnU Batman as well, but all signs seem to indicate the compressed timeline with him as well.
Honestly, Robinson just said they started their career 'nine years ago'. He didn't specify if it was 'nine years ago' from before the time of their deaths, or 'nine years ago' from the present of E2. If the former, then there were publicly active as heroes for nine years...if the latter, then they were only around for four years!
Either way, Bruce became Batman after Helena's birth. Which is fair enough on the surface, considering that the E0 Bruce likely became Batman after Damien's birth as well. But incorporating Talia into Bruce's pre-Batman background is much easier and far more plausible than incorporating Selina. And there's also the fact that Bruce actually RAISED Helena (based on everything we know so far) so we're forced to deal with the fact that he started his career as Batman KNOWING he had a daughter.
Well, as with the 5 year time line, it is all just DC trying to be too definitive with this stuff. Whether 5 years or 9 years, it opens the door to this kind of fan speculation and knit picking, of which I am equally guilty. I can't reconcile the E0 Batman only being active for 5 years and having had 3 Robins in that time, plus a kid, and the entirety of his history since COIE all crammed in their, as well. This whole 9 year time frame is much the same as that. Why can't DC just say that the heroes have been on E0 for "a while" and that they have been around on E2 "longer than a while," and stop trying to set everything in stone.

From the Justice League Origin arc, you can see that all of them except for Cyborg and Wonder Woman were all active more than 5 years ago. Superman had defeated Brainiac and got the suit. Batman was hounded by GCPD. Hal Jordan was harassed by Air Force. Flash had to deal with the Flash task force. All were basically public except Batman since he did his ninja thing. The 5 year thing is their big "Coming Out" party where they're publicly acknowledged as heroes instead of menaces.
Six years then wince the first arc of action takes place a year before the first arc of justice league. So beyond Batman. The other leaguers were just months into their careers as noted by the end of the first arc of action with Clark talking two his parents grave.
