I'd say, Azzarello delivered his promises. He built up a brand new look for Diana and now people are going to use her more.
Oh, I completely forgot those interviews. Nice catch.

Well, he had successful projects before Batwoman and I am sure he will have projects when his run ends.

And besides, Batwoman's book needs to exist beyond one writer or artist if it is to be a successful franchise. It survived the loss of Rucka, it will survive the loss of Williams.

i think Williams is a far more important part of Batwoman than rucka was quite honestly

I believe he could draw 2 books . With enough time and not writing

He would need a huge buffer time, and eventually it would likely catch up to him. And it is not like he does all the writing on Batwoman, he is only a co-writer.

Didn't he have like over a year to prepare for the Batwoman run on Detective? And even with all that time they still needed to bring in Jock to do one of the arcs. While Williams on Wonder Woman would be awesome (hell Williams on anything is awesome) I really don't think there's anyway he could handle more than one book at a time.

When I mentioned Williams on Wonder Woman, I meant when he, Chiang and Azzarello are finished with their current books.

I love how intimidating this cover makes her look. You don't even see her face, just the silhouette, but the presence still flies off the page. This will probably be the first issue of Batwoman I read.

I LOVE JHWIII's art, and this is beautiful. Very exciting. Thanks for posting, Free Man.

I'm not against the use of a sword and other weapons now and then, but with JL, WW, and now this, it's starting to feel a bit much (I know it's just a bloody cover ). And if they are going all sword all the time, can we at least get some sort of story to make the sword feel a little special and less generic?

I somewhat agree with you about this. I don't think it's been too bad within the solo title, though--we've seen WW go into battle repeatedly without deadly weapons, and think the descent to hell is a legitimate special case.

I'm not sure about this; give her a special sword, and she may become more and more dependent on it. I often felt Marvel's Thor was a little overshadowed by his own hammer.

Eh, swords are for wussies. All Diana needs is a length of rope and an ass to kick.

That said, WOO J H WILLIAMS! I remember when he said the third arc will bring Batwoman more into the DCU and thought for a moment "it'd be cool to see Wonder Woman and Batwoman team up". But I never expected it to actually happen! YES!
Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.
