It's rather clear at this point that Aaron has little to no interest in the Kyle/Yost NXM characters. He much prefers the younger mutants Morrison created. Glob is in some ways the epitome of this - and to that extent he will earn the undying ire of hardcore NXM fans.

I hope you don't mean that Glob is the epitome of Morrison's students. He was a one-off. Morrison created some glorious kids, from Beak, Angel, No Girl, Ernst and Esme, to utter disasters such as Quentin Quire, Sophie Cuckoo and Dust. Glob doesn't even rate.

I don't have ire for Aaron. But then I think the book that should focus on that generation should be Legacy not Wolverine and The X-Men. Or prefferably a student centric book. Why did we need more staff stuff with Astonishing for example? The problem is the legacy and astonishing line ups are potentially more interesting than the x-kids.

Oh no. I meant that he sort of symbolizes the use of Morrison's students in that he's there but isn't at all essential to the plot. All of his lines could have easily gone to Rockslide which is likely annoying to long time NXM fans.

NXM fans are annoying. They deserve nothing. They had shitty attitudes when Marvel tried to work with them.

It's surprising to me that you don't like Quire. Have you ever seen the 1968 movie 'If'?

I liked NXM quite a lot - but I had no delusions that it was anything more than angsty, tweeny-bopper fluff.

Quintin Quire isn't even in the same continent as Malcolm McDowell in "If".

I have. I'm not a big fan of the Angry Young Man movement. Quentin Quire is just some little nerd stalker drug addict who found out he was adopted and it sent his whole world a spinning! Big deal.

Oh, I disagree. I thought it was a wonderful homage.

True, but I would have thought that Morrison, if anyone, would be the one to re-create the caning scene.

If you're going to do the whole tired disaffected youth trope, you better have a good line like this :
"The thing I hate about you, Rowntree, is the way you give Coca-Cola to your scum, and your best teddy bear to Oxfam, and expect us to lick your frigid fingers for the rest of your frigid life."

Quire gives me base-level Angry Teen Rebellion. He's about as interesting as a Twisted Sister video from the mid-1980s.

If people can't agree that Glob Herman is joke garbage, then I am afraid comic fans will never be able to come to a consensus on any issue.

Ah, I see. Yes, angry white guy (Michael Douglas in 'Falling Down') is rather feckless and dull, but I'll never get sick of angry kids in all their various shapes and sizes.

Well, it's at least one thing we strongly agree on.

I'm a fan of the Kyle and Yost New X-Men crew, but I hated Glob Herman long before they arrived. Then again, I hate all the Morrison circus freaks - including fan favorites like Beak and Angel.
