    Default Parallel Lives

Is this story canon? I don't understand why it was recently released a week or two ago. Why are they getting married/married in the graphic novel. Nothing really parallel about their lives. I feel there could have been much better or different stories that could have been told or re-released.

1: Well, sort of. The issue was recently released in 1989 and ended on the wedding from Amazing Annual #21. But now the wedding has been retconned out. So that portion is no longer canon. The other stuff about MJ always knowing Peter is Spider-Man is still canon. (And was referenced in #675, IIRC).

2: It's a reprint. Occasionally stories get reprinted. Marvel's going to reprint other Original Graphic Novels. And they're even putting all the Spidey ones together (including Parallel Lives).

Spirits of the Earth and Fear Itself (not connected to the recent crossover.)

Presumably. And there's supposed to be some kind of collection for the whole lot of 'em.

First Spidey book I've picked up in about 4 and a half years (discounting Ultimate and that Clone Saga Mini).

I've never read it before. I enjoyed it.

It felt like mostly a mix-up of stories i had read/known of. I can't saw i didn't go AWWWWWWWW~ too many times for a guy, but, eh, it feels like a piece for people who are new into Spider-man. Not bad, but knowing of the stories (my Venom TP does MJ's story better. Even if using the same panels.) kinda ruins it, then again that's true for all reprints.

    Spider-man: No.

Both came from tragic/troubled childhoods. Both were overtly emotional loners who started building fake public images for themselves at very young ages(MJ's flighty party girl exterior, Peter's snarky and sarcastic wisecracker) until they grew at ease with the better aspects of their respective "masks" and naturally integrated those traits into their real personalities. Also, I would say that Aunt May played a crucial role in supporting and guiding MJ from falling over into the abyss of Lindsay Lohan trainwreckage similar to how she anchors Peter from turning into Bruce Geekwayne.

I would like more flashback scenes with MJ and Aunt May to help gain a better insight into how May was MJ's "wonderwall" through the teenage girl's most troubled days and why exactly Mary Jane would enjoy spending so much time with May and Anna before and after meeting Peter face to face for the first time.
