Striiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife!!!
Also Ares. Swish!
Akins' art is looking much better here, guess he just needed a good inker. Though the worst part of his past issues was that his Diana looked weird as hell. Wonder what happened to Persephone? Really lookin' forward to this issue.
Yeah, I think so too.
Akins' art has more of a comic (though darkly comic) touch--look at the cartoonish-looking terrorist running away, or War's hat getting blown off. I don't think I mind that; the god's are absurdities in the modern world, and so it makes sense to me that the pages with gods sometimes teeter between horrific and ridiculous.
I really like Strife's smirk when she calls War "combative."
Akin's War looks a bit less like Azzarello than Chiang's, and a bit more like Colonel Sanders.
The blast didn't really need to take up two pages, in my opinion--but I guess it made its point.Maybe I'll like it better in the book; it just takes up an awful lot of a short preview.
War's growl when WW is mentioned is interesting. Maybe it's true, as someone guessed, that he is one of her patrons. Maybe he felt betrayed when she defied him later on.
Or maybe Persephone is the fourth patron. Yeah, it's interested that she's alluded to here.
I get the sense that Strife is planning to do something at the wedding. Maybe she's going to help rescue Wonder Woman? I'm not sure why she would do that, but of course it would be part of some scheme.

I absolutely loved this preview! The art is pretty darn good as well. So many interesting turns and surprises in just a few pages.

Hmm, this thread seems to have a lot of Strife in it. ;)
Great preview (thanks for posting, Dr. Hurt). Azzarello and company go a great job with the gods and atmosphere. :)
But now I have to wait for the rest? :(

I love this preview so much. I am so happy to have Strife back as well; she's such a naughty bitch :)

"Combative"
YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!
Sorry, could'nt resist. Looks great.
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.
I've taken to applying a Richard Harris-Dumbledore voice to Ares. A soft spoken voice seems to fit his seemingly frail appearance.
I posted elsewhere that I would be more appreciative of Akin's art if he stayed true to his own style and sensibility...and with this prev, he seems to have done just that (with the help of DG's crisp, clean and clear inking). Here, Strife looks more "willowy" but more substantial at the same time. From wot I've seen of his work prior to WW there is that touch of whimsy but his figure work is quite grounded and closer to wot we have in these pages. I want to see how he renders Diana, though.
