Default Will be the magic stronger in Earth-2?

Apparently, as we see in the first chapter of E-2, Flash will have literally the speed of Mercury, making his origin more mystical. That make think how a lot of the characters from the original earth two (the one from the 40's) were more mystical based while their counterparts were more close to sci-fi concepts(GL and Hawkman, Dr. Fate, the Spectre, among others). That make think if magic in this new earth-2 would be more stronger than the main earth (or Earth-1, or Prime or whatever name has now) and which other characters would be magically connected.
Still, we don't know yet if GL origin will be more mystical or if Hawkgirl is a reincarnated princess (as their previous incarnations), but their presence could be an indication in some fashion.

Robinson actually stated that Earth 2 would be less magicky than Earth Prime and more sciencey.

Uh where did he say that;because what I remember is this:
One of the things that you are going to see about Earth 2 is that it's not a magical place or a sorcerers' world, but it does have a slightly metaphysical feel to it. Science doesn't work exactly the same as it does on Earth Prime.

Thanks for the article, I had not reading it.
So, science don't work the same? I think he was meaning universe rules don't work the same (but i don't want to discuss grammar or semiology here), but that downplaying of the concept of sorcerers' world make me believe we would see more mystic origins than sci-fi origins.

I suspect there is an editorial mandate to make sure that Earth-2 doesn't come even remotely close to overshadowing the main DCnU Earth. Everything will be a slightly inferior version on Earth-2.

I suspect you see only conspiracy when stupidity and incompetence can also lead to a similar outcome.

No, I see both possibilities. I would be completely unsurprised if it was someday revealed that the DCnU was plotted out by Johns and Lee on a series of cocktail napkins in a bar.

That is what I was referring to, he said Earth is "not a magical place or a sorcerers' world".

Yup;but it never said it would be less magical than earth prime;nor did he say it would be more sciency than the aformentioned earth either;the only thing he said was it is not a sorcerers world or a magical place(like say a D&D world);meaning there is not ONLY magic at work in the origins and that there aren't spellslingers in all of earth two's corners.

Yeah it definitely seems that magic will play a bigger role on Earth 2 than on Prime. Kinda adding on to the fact that Alan Scott's GL powers are mystical. I much prefer Jay getting the power of Mercury rather than "inhaling hard water". I loved Mark Waid's comment on in the DCU documentary, "uh, hard water is ice."
This should be really interesting to see how Mr. Terrific adapts to this world.

He seems to like the word "metaphyscial" to describe the kind of world Earth 2 will be. Here's a little more of the quote you guys have been discussing:
One of the things that you are going to see about Earth 2 is that it's not a magical place or a sorcerers' world, but it does have a slightly metaphysical feel to it.
I took the second half of the sentence as the operative and interesting part. It's a little bit of a weird way of using the word "metaphysical," but I take it to mean that Earth 2 is a world where there's something beyond the laws of physics going on. The first half of the sentence seems more like a qualifier--ie., even though it's metaphysical, it's not quite what you would call a magical world and it doesn't completely belong to sorcerers.

He uses this term in the podcast too; he says that even Atom's origin, even though it will seem scientific, will have a metaphysical element to it, because that's the kind of world this is.

In fact, hard water is water with highly mineral content, not be confused with heavy water, used in early nuclear programs in the '40s. Maybe the Flash creators were thinking in this when they created the character.

Yes, but this is the same Robinson who said the trinity would be "inspirational" for the next generation of heroes, only to kill them in the first issue. Their words must be analized very closely.
