Yeah, I understand.
I definitely agree that he can be knocked off by either of them, so long as he is tangible.
And I only mention it because it is arguable (since not only did he not phase through energy but was specifically hurt by Tachyons) that he may not be able to phase energy. I disagree. I think the argument is not valid but I understand that there might be one.

Sure.
The thing is that, IIRC, even if that happened he'd be able to call it back to him. The machine was actually to stop that from happening.
Not 100% sure though. And that is one movie I don't feel like watching again to confirm.
But they have no way to counter him phasing, so it's not really needed.
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.

I'd give this to Surfer. Even if he can't phase energy, he acted as if Doom's lightning shot was about as damaging as a water balloon. Thor's is stronger, but it clearly takes a considerable jolt to hurt him. And if you watch carefully, when he blasted Doom Victor's body was actually vaporized for a second or two, it reformed inside that iceberg thing. Note he left no hole from crashing into it. If Surfer can phase others, he could merge Hulk and Thor with the ground.

Stark and Thor can distract Surfer by firing at him lightly and let surfer absorb all he wants through the board or phase. while surfer is distracted Hulk charges at surfer from behind knocking his ass off.
I don't know, knockoff Super Skrull Johnny couldn't manage to knock Doom off the board, he's pretty close to Thor's muscle.

I didn't say Hulk, I said Thor. Hulk would never lay a hand on Surfer, he flies to fast and he phases.

Deadman25, we agree in this.
First off, it does not work the way that is being presented here. There must be feats of it being impossible to knock Surfer off his board to say it is impossible. We never go by "since it did not happen, it is impossible".
Second, The Thing is not on the level of Thor physically. For those of you who may have forgotten, Hulk was not that much stronger than Thor, if at all. And Thor definitely had great striking power with Mjilnor, just look at what happened to The Hulk when he hit him in the face.
Other than that, it is still not even a useful argument as neither of them can actually hit The Surfer.
