Considering that the Avengers used their base to set up a trap for the Dark Avengers back in Dark Rein, I guess they are.

Why would it want to destroy earth? There are two non -dead end sapient species on Earth.

It's always had a soft spot for Earth. It's gone out of its way to insure its survival. Plus, it didn't wipe out the SA team when it had the chance. It had a hold of Rhodey, and he's still alive.

A powerful hammer throw hurt Galactus, but what made him run was Thor's most powerful energy attack.

But this was when Stan was writing, at a time when Thor was using his full abilities, was physically the strongest hero, and wasn't a punching bag for every new villain. Those days are long gone.

Ah yes, the wonderful loving PF took revenge on Thor by destroying a random planet. Seems reasonable. It's what any good person would do.

What's truly tragic is that had Scott allowed Hope to make her own decisions instead of keeping her captive against her will, she'd already be there to help out Thor to stop that thing. She was ready and willing to face the Phoenix in AvX #0, opposed to anyone fighting over her in #2, and generally has never backed down from a threat, after all. Though, I guess Scott knew her too well, and realized she'd do the right thing if left a choice, and agree to a mission to stop the PF. Hell, the Hope we got to know during the last year would have insisted on eading that mission to space.

Which would have jeopardized Scott's goal to wield that power for his own end, of course, and probably is one of the reasons why he resorted to violence when talking to Cap - he was afraid that Hope might side against him, so he escalated the situation and quickly locked her away. And as we have seen, all that accomplished was scaring her away, shattering her trust in the people who were supposed to be on her side.

So that planet there? That's Scott's burden now. As will be any other world the Phoenix destroys before it can finally be stopped. I hope the mutant race is worth all that death.
