Default Spoiler feature why have it when its not enforced?

Every other forum I'm on about media and pop culture spoilers are always enforced by staff/mods. On Movie sites video game sites etc.

It seems on here like half the people don't use it. You can go into a random thread about a comic and someone will just give the entire story away with no spoiler warning.

I would have thought for a comic book forum the comic nerds would take this more seriously as its a big problem at least to me . I know you go on my movie forums and try spoiling the new Avengers movie with no spoiler warnings you're going to get a flaming and possible infractions for violating the sites TOS.

Of course new people get warnings but to keep on giving big plot points with no warning sucks for people just trying to get into it.

A lot of threads put "SPOILER" in the title, so they don't have to include those warnings/codings within the review/summary thread. So that you're warned well ahead of time, the whole thread could contain them. Usually, that's more than enough for most posters, and mods.

Because it's a feature, not a rule. And if you go into a thread about a specific comic, it's a safe bet that it'll discuss the comic. When it's on a thread about a different subject, it seems to be used pretty regularly.

I would say that the reason the spoiler feature isn't enforced is because there's nothing in the rules about spoilers. The mods around here have a hard enough job as it is without have to worry about spoilers too. The spoiler tag feature exists purely as a courtesy. At any rate, it really isn't hard to avoid spoilers. People are typically pretty good about avoiding revealing spoilers outside of threads specifically about the subject in question. Within those threads, you take your chances.

Honestly though, I'm of the opinion that anything that can be ruined by having a few details revealed beforehand wasn't worth seeing/reading/playing/whatever to begin with.

Maybe not ruined, but there are some things that are a damn site better if you don't know the plot twist.
The Punisher: I’m going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pants™ Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and you’ll die screaming! And I’ll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!

Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!

In other words, what StoneGold said.

There's a link to all BB Codes at the bottom of every page.
