Thing of the naow: Please let Scott Summer die in AVX
Agreed. But I think it's very apparent that Marvel wants to have some kind of synergy between the comics and Marvel Studios, especially given how successful the Avengers have been at the box office and plans for the upcoming sequel and new movies. Considering how this event involves TWO reality-warping characters, it certainly looks like the perfect opportunity to do something like this.
Sort of like what's been going on over in Ultimate Comics X-Men.My guess for major shakeups is that the X-Men manage to kick start the mutant gene, but the event will also resolve itself with the government adopting a legit DoFP style Sentinel program.
If a reboot or a "rebirth" were to happen, it would be at the climax of Act 3, of course.
EDIT: Besides, I'm thinking Act 2, as I speculated earlier, is that Cyclops, with the help of the Phoenix-possessed Emma Frost, essentially takes over the Earth and the Avengers become outlaws.

as long as there will still be a Defenders, i don't really give a ****.
I just don't see it considering there really hasn't been much overlap with the franchises to begin with over the last maybe half decade (Outside of that spat with Norman Osborn, the X-Men have mostly kept to themselves since the Decimation). In fact, Marvel's been making an obvious concentrated effort lately to re-integrate the X-Line into the Marvel Universe proper. I don't imagine they're going to suddenly about face on that when they could've just left well enough alone and not bothered bringing the X-Men back in.
I can absolutely imagine a more stark, antagonistic relationship between the two teams, but I don't see an outright separation being very likely.
In a sense, but to a less extreme degree. Heck, maybe Cap'll be so booty hurt that he'll get on board with it.Sort of like what's been going on over in Ultimate Comics X-Men.
This shouldn't be hard to figure out:
- Issues 5-7. Cyclops: "No More Avengers
- Issue 8. X-Men realize Cyclops went to far. Bring the Avengers Back
- The rest: Avengers win. Yay </sarcasm>
I'm REALLY hoping I'm wrong but with this new movie and most of the writers being Avengers Writers I can't see much other conclusions than this

Yes, the Avengers
That requires that a statement from Marvel editorial being given any credibility about things like that at all. Why would anyone still do that
