I have no problem with the actual story, but not at $3.99 and not when there's no AVENGERS but basically a backstory to flesh out an event. It would have been great as a 1.99 tie-in

i love that Da Vinci is now a character in the Marvel universe not exclusive to Hickman's books. all of this, plus the latest issue of X-Men Legacy, really drives home the idea that the Avengers might not have a clue to what they're dealing with.
wasn't that the scene depicted in New Avengers #26 with Fongji and the crazy fire dragon?

Yep, I like Fongji.
Ok, so I guess Hope is going to search for this dragon now? I wonder how does she know and why didn't Jean or Ray...
right. Why would I expect At least one Avenger to appear in a book with Avengers in the title.
Anyway once again seems like I made the right call in not buying this issue.
Ultimate Marvel books are where its at. Maybe I can jump back into 616 after this dumb AvX event is over

"No weapon formed against them could prosper."
Fongji is an interesting character and we learn that obviously kicking the crap out of the host is the best way to train the host. Clearly Xavier should have kicked Jean some, you know, if he hadn't been a cripple.
But I'm a little confused. When exactly does Iron Fist learn this history? After AvX, right?
Good stuff added to the mythos, but not much happened storywise. I was worried when I saw Da Vinci in the previews, thought it'd be too many elements for Bendis to handle right. No harm, no foul though, his Da Vinci was good. He did a decent job dialogue-wise too.
We didn't get to see Fongji battle Shou Lao though, which is disappointing considering the overall lack of action and the fact that Deodato could've drawn it.
Also, any other Iron Fist fan feel like Fongji became the Iron Fist way to easily? Most Iron Fist's are trained from childhood to earn the chance to face Shou Lao, and here we have this random girl from the street trained in what looks like less than a month getting to face the dragon. Either she's the greatest natural fighter ever, or Bendis just really wanted this story to be told his way, an ongoing problem.
Won't even comment about how misleading the covers are. No Avengers appearing in this issue doesn't really bother me to be honest. Feel like I'm getting my dose in other books anyways.
And i hate how the writers are pushing this white Iron Fist costume thing (Bendis and now Fraction in Defenders too). An explanation would do wonders to keep my head from exploding whenever i see it!!
I really liked the art in this but more Leonardo De Vinci? Really? Ugh! I reviewed it at the link in my signature if anyone is inclined to take a peak.

Considering that next issue mentions Hope in it, hopefully we actually get some Avengers in the book called New Avengers because this is less of tie-in and more of background information no one really asked for.
Holding out for a Peter/Miles team up.
That's what's so frustrating about Bendis. He CAN be a good writer. But sometimes he insists on throwing in these quirky little trademarks of his, like blood and urine, and it just turns me off. I don't really like when I can tell whose writing a book just because of a single line of dialogue like that.
And there's fact that there haven't been any Avengers in the book for two straight issues. But it's pretty solid from a writing standpoint.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!
I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others
Dude, they just wanna complain. They would no matter what he did here. They hate the writer, hate the event, hate tptb, but still read and read and read. Sadists, I tells ya!
For instance, what is the problem with the blood and urine line??? I think it's pretty awesome that Leo can do get bloodwork and a urinalysis before such practices were standard medical procedure. It shows how ahead of the curve he was. What's everyone thinking he meant by that line???
Keaton always said, "I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me are people that think Final Crisis is good.
Art is good but the story is boring. Not liking that theres ANOTHER red head with green eyes that yields the Phoenix power
