X-Men Legacy #266 (SAM, IT'S OK): Review and Spoilers.

Yeah I remember that series "Monsters" that was cancelled and it was very out of character. Now if she was saying he tried to attack her from behind I can understand it.

As I said before, she was reacting, not thinking the matter rationally. She just realized she assaulted and probably seriously injured minors, so she was trying to justify herself and said the wrong thing. We all want to think we're above judging people on appearances, but we never know how we'll react if put in that sort of situation. The Avengers were wrong in a lot of things this issue, but She-Hulk calling him a monster was perfectly appropiate for her given the circustances, even though it was also highly offensive to mutants.

The monster comment wasn't that bad. I mean, the whole point of it was to see how even the most PC of characters could fall back on their fear response when faced with that kind of situation. He's a flaming skeleton, she didn't even notice Hellion and Match, just saw a flaming skeleton. And when told they were just children she just fumbled for the quickest explanation she could, and sadly it was the wrong thing to say. That's all there is. I don't think she was portrayed poorly, just as someone who was put in a shitty situation where she made a mistake she can't easily take back. I honestly think that the fact that anyone could've made that mistake was pretty well done. Cause it doesn't diminish the badness of it, but it's something that just is bound to happen in the middle of this conflict.

Like I said its an overreaction on my part. As its been mentioned, Jen currently only gets bit parts and guest appearances. So we get what we can. Us She-Hulk fans are probably more sensitive as to how she is portrayed I suppose. This kind of event and story is going to evoke different opinions. Some are going to see, as you mentioned just bad situation with a poor choice of words and other are going to see her as a hypocrite since she is a Hulk. I saw the latter, therefore to me it seemed out of character.

Though I will say this, this really speaks on Frenzy as combat teacher, you think those kids would had some training in dealing with Hulks .

I was referring to Incredible Hulks, where Hulks = Monsters in the Marvel Universe.

Been out of town at a conference along with every other medievalist in the world, and have just caught up on comics.

I genuinely loved this issue. It feels like Gage is starting to get a good handle on the characters and their history, and is going more with his own vision than wrapping up loose ends from the previous run. I especially liked the flashbacks to/reinterpretations of Avengers Annual #10 . . . because, yes, Rogue does have a history fighting the Avengers and that should be acknowledged. And Gambit is beginning to show hints of his spine regrowing. This all makes me so, so very happy. :)

I agree. It's slowly seeming like a team book again, although I hope issues 270 & 271 don't ruin that, based on the solicits.

Man, perusing this thread, THIS is why Marvel for once knows what they're doing. People don't want to see heroes fighting aliens, or Norse gods, or even former Green Goblins, they want to see hero fight hero. No "event" had more people yelling at each other, getting fully vested in the overall story, than Civil War did. And now AvX is following the same suit more or less. You know, Marvel should just make all the villains quit and get real day jobs, and have every comic be hero vs. hero. They'd sell a lot better.

of course half the posts are pointing out that except for having a hero vs hero fight, marvel has no idea what it's doing or its own past stories

Yes but like anyone in real life, if you say the wrong thing even unintentionally, you tend to get called out for it. It was understandable what she said but not really appropriate.

Beast is up in space because the people have demanded that that mother-effer die a painful death. You ought to remember that Wolverine gave the Avengers the worse-case scenario, believing that he was saving his children that he slaughtered and while the Avengers were on a deluded mission, Wolverine used them for camouflage while he always intended to do and that was kill Hope. Hope should have dismembered Wolverine and scattered his body parts throughout the world, save his head, which she would have carried with her, like Tom Hanks did with the volleyball. Let's call Avengers Academy what it is - it's an internment camp. What's it like, btw, to be so far up Wolverine's butt that people don't see the hypocrisy his character has been exhibiting since joining the Avengers?

Agree on your point, Marvel is half-assing Avengers versus X-men because of the movie, which evidently, is great. I think the movie would have been great anyways, without Marvel f8cking with everyone's heads with the drivel that is AvX. It's insulting to the X-men fans who think Wolverine running a school is f8cking stupid and that Beast should have died not Nightcrawler.

Again, show me evidence that the PF objected to anything Rachel did and was prevented by Rachel from taking over. I simply suggest that the PF could have been indifferent to what Rachel was doing and so it let her do what she wanted.

Evolution has science and experiments to back it up. That is not the same assuming that just because something hasn't happened (Rachel eating a planet) that is scientific evidence that she controls the PF when it is possible that the PF had no intention of eating a planet when Rachel had its power.

We should all caution that Rachel is not sentient in that the writers who wrote her then and now are two different people. Two different mandates from Marvel at two very different periods of time. Both sides could be right - the Phoenix can be controlled, the Phoenix can't be controlled. This time around, as stupid as I think it is, they're writing the Phoenix as unstoppable.

Rachel is not sentient? Really? Of course we know that she is a fictional character and like all fictional characters, it is ultimately the writers whim. Frankly, I find how they are writing the PF now as more plausible than the previous bullshit. The previous bullshit that this cosmic entity capable of altering the universe ultimately had a thing for red headed humans and that earth was so special out of the trillions upon trillions of planets in the universe was something you could only get in a universe revolves around us humans fictional story. Real life has proven humanity is probably not that special.

Ah yes, Destroyers. I think they were going with, the more monsters she fought the more of her humanity would be lost. That premise does sound off but it got cancelled so I don't know how it would of played out, it could of worked or it could of been out of character.

This might be a dumb question,but except for Legacy,why isn't Rogue involved in any other fights/battles in the AvX storyline?
