pleeease bring back Whedon!! I'd actually love to see Joss hired to work along with Kevin Feige to oversee all the Marvel Studios movies moving forward in some way, at least in an advisory capacity, if not also doing script touchups and things like that. Sort of like when he wrote and directed most of the best episodes of Buffy, but was showrunner for nearly the whole series. Except maybe nothing as involving as "Marvel movie showrunner," because the other directors need room to do their own thing, and Joss needs to do his own thing too and not just be the "Avengers guy" from here on out. Just saying, I wouldn't mind seeing all of these sequels directed by Joss Whedon life model decoys or something. But that's just me.

"fans are already chomping at the bit for the next installment" Shouldn't that be 'Champing at the bit'?

You're right about IM3 and Thor 2 for next year, and I believe Cap 2 films either late this year or sometime next year for 2014 release, but Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn't really relevant to the discussion, not being a Marvel release.

I believe Feige has also said that in between the three existing Avengers-member franchises (four, if reports of a new Hulk movie come true--please!!), there will also be other Marvel properties, such as the much-mooted Guardians of the Galaxy and or Doctor Strange movies. (Personally, I want a Doctor Strange movie and a Namor movie - that way we can also have the Hulk in a Defenders movie. :) )

"Heroes fight other heroes, villains wax poetic about their master plans, aliens invade New York and none of this ever feels forced," said Campbell. "Whedon's brand of humor fits the Marvel Universe like a glove, successfully humanizing the superhuman bunch. Someone better be talking to Whedon about writing an actual Avengers comic with exactly this line-up of characters -- I'm more excited to see the continued adventures of this group than I have been for any superhero team, in comic books and out, for years."
yes please Marvel make it so,
Whedon as Bendis replacement on Avengers comics!!
it'll definitely put Avengers back on top of comic chart

Well everyone knew their would be a sequel. If they due indeed face off with Thanos as the main villain I would love for the Avengers to get a new member in Ms.Marvel.

I would guess that sense Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 come out next year,Captain America 2 in 2014 that Avengers 2 would come out in 2015.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm sure it's as great as everyone claims. However, my problem is that this seems to be, more or less, the only story Marvel knows how to tell with the Avengers. We pretty much already had this story with the Ultimate Avengers direct to dvd release, which was based largely on the Ultimates which is the exact same story that was used as the basis of this live action movie. Here's hoping a sequel works better than Ultimate Avengers 2 did.

Does The Hulk really belong in The Avengers line-up? I understand why he had to be in the movie (given the limited number of movies they had to draw from), but I always thought that was one of the cool things about The Avengers and Hulk--that he didn't want to be on the team (the triumph of art over commerce). Hulk is a much better fit for The Defenders--they should make a movie out of that.

And in a related story, the Pope reaffirmed that he is indeed Catholic, and scientists have confirmed that the sky is blue.

I know that, but if you've read those stories then you know that he parted company with the team rather quickly. I thought that was really cool on Stan Lee's part. It showed that he thought about the characters more than the potential sales he could get from having all of Marvel's big guns in one super-team. Stan knew that his Hulk couldn't work with The Avengers and he had him leave in typical brash, bombastic style.

Wasn't the Hulk cancelled way back in the day and just floating around in books around that time period? Anyway Hulk is also in AEMH and he works great there

Is it champing? I always thought it was chomping. That just makes more sense to me. The bit is the thing in the horse's mouth, so they chomp at it, right?

I'm curious as to how the next batch of solo films will hold up now. Iron Man 3 isn't going to compete with the Avengers in the Epic department, I'm sure. But will audiences still flock to watch Tony without all his amazing friends?

Having other Avengers cameo in the solo films would be awesome.
