The Hobgoblin, having been knocked off of his glider, rose to his feet. "You have to understand, Mrs. Leeds. This is nothing personal. If you had accepted the previous solution given, there would be no issue between us at all. But since you were so determined to find out the truth behind your husband's death, I decided it would be best to give you as much of it as I could, without revealing my true identity of course. So I arranged that meeting, and I was prepared to let you walk away with the story, until my brother just walked in on us and ruined everything."

"And why are you after me now?" Betty asked.

"Because now my identity has been revealed to the public, thanks to you and Spider-Man. I need to make an example out of you. Your demise will serve as a lesson to everyone not to cross the Hobgoblin. Don't worry, I'll make it quick."

    WHIP-CRACK!

Suddenly, the Hobgoblin winced as a whip struck him. He turned to see Franziska von Karma standing nearby.

"Foolhardy foolish fool who foolishly fails to pay attention to his surroundings deserves what he gets."

At that point, Betty seized the opportunity to punch the Hobgoblin in the jaw. "This is for Ned!" she shouted.

She followed it up with another punch that sent the Hobgoblin reeling, and into the wall. The Hobgoblin, dazed from the attacks from Volstagg, Franziska, and Betty, soon collapsed.

"I suggest that we restrain him so that he does not cause any more trouble." Franziska added.

    "Where were you?" Betty asked.

"Back in the courtroom when the merger occured. I ... do not wish to talk about it."

Betty decided it was best not to ask. Now was not the time anyway. They were in the midst of a huge battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil.

"Guts Man! How could you? Mega and I got you fixed and back on the good guys side!" Roll looked shocked.

"Aye! Assistance from the great Man of Spiders is always welcomed!"
Sparing just a moment for a facepalm, Spider-Man said, "Do me a favor, Volstagg? Please, never call me that again. It just sounds so wrong. And on that note, THIS ONE... IS FOR ME!!"

And with that, Spider-Man punched Electro in the face. Luckily, he was wearing his rubber costume, which granted some degree of protection from his enemy's powers. Then, webbing his face shut, Spider-Man swung Electro around and around and around and then tossed the supervillain at Dan Hibiki.

    "Play catch, pinky!"

No sooner had Spidey let go, however, than Venom showed up and grabbed our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler by the face and slammed him into the ground before tossing him in the direction of Lotta Hart and Betty Brant.... utterly destroying his mask in the process.

Getting to his knees, Spider-Man glanced to the side and saw that Miss Brant could clearly see his identity..... and he promptly shoved that issue aside to be dealt with later. Turning to face his archnemesis, Spider-Man called out to Volstagg and Dan Hibiki. "Could use a teensie bit of help here....!"

At that second, time seemed to freeze as Parker and Brock gazed into each other's eyes, righteous fury and bitter hatred meeting in equal measure.

And then, they were moving too fast for most normals to see.

OOC: Will continue this Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny later, bed now.

    {Music: 'Confess the Truth 2011'}

Betty gazed still in shock as she saw Spider-Man unmasked as ... Peter Parker.

All sorts of jumbled, disconnected thoughts came to her. No .... please, this can't be real...

And yet ... it all made sense. Had she, on a subconscious level, known who it was underneath the mask?

Peter, she knew, cared greatly for her, and she knew him to be a trusted friend. If Spider-Man was Peter all along, then a lot of what Spider-Man had done for her made a lot of sense. He had gone out of his way to rescue her on many different occasions. Blackie Gaxton, the Cult of Love, to name a few. And then, most recently, was his assistance in the investigation of the Hobgoblin. Both Peter and Spider-Man had joined in to help her, but she never saw them both at the same place at once.

But while it made sense, at the same time she did not want this to be the truth. Not only was Peter out there risking his life on a regular basis, but here he had actually seen the monster that had taken the form of his beloved Aunt May.

And now ... his reaction to that made sense. No wonder Spider-Man nearly shut down upon the revelation of the monster's true identity. Perhaps at that moment, Betty knew. Maybe that was what motivated her to make that speech.

    WHIP-CRACK!

Franziska cracked her whip right next to Betty, shaking her out of her thoughts. "This is neither the time nor the place to be losing yourself in thought!" Franziska shouted. "Pay attention to the battle!"

Betty, knowing Franziska was right, turned to see what was going on in the battle. She caught Lotta Hart snapping a few photos.

She grabbed Lotta. "You didn't, did you?"

    "Didn't do what?" Lotta asked.

"Snap a few photos of Spider-Man unmasked?"

"So what if I did? Reckgiven, it'd be one of the biggest scoops of all time!"

"Lotta, there's a reason he wears the mask! If you remember being merged with me, you might even guess why that is!" Betty replied.

    "Look, I ..."

    WHIP-CRACK!

Franziska glared at them. "This is no time to be quarreling amongst yourselves! Enemies may approach at any moment!"

"She's right." Betty said. "We'll talk about this later."

She turned to find Spider-Man ... Peter ... but he was still engaged in battle with Venom.

And soon, more enemies would approach.

OOC: This one gets a little creepy, but with it comes the end of part II for the Spidey and Nero's entry for the Ultimate Showdown! They'll still happily cooperate with others afterward, of course. Also, this isn't the same Venom from the show as Spider-Man - not quite creepy enough.

After trading punches for a while, Venom landed a brutal hit on Peter and sent him crashing into the ground, with several broken ribs. As the webhead began coughing up blood while getting back to his knees, Venom said, "It's been quite some time, Parker. Quite some time indeed, since you ruined our lives. You took away our job.... our home.... and we even lost our girlfriend because of you! But it ends here, and now. TONIGHT, WE GET OUR REVENGE, AND OUR JUSTICE!"

With that, the symbiote being grabbed Miss Brant with a tentacle and brought her close, licking her face with his long, slimy tongue.

"Watch in despair, Parker, as what you love is taken from YOU!!!"

As Venom said this, numerous black tendrils erupted from the symbiote, wrapping around Betty and drawing her into the suit like tar pits to a mastodon.

    OOC: {Music: We Need A Hero, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers}

With a fire in his eyes, Peter Parker spat the blood out of his mouth and, for the first time since he'd gotten his powers, did the unthinkable.

    He stopped holding back.

Silent as the grave, Spider-Man seemed to vanish from sight for a moment, before Eddie Brock found a scarlet fist in his face. And then, not even half a second later, another. And Spider-Man continued to pummel Venom's face with enough strength to effortlessly break through concrete walls and pulverize a normal human's skull.

The onslaught of attacks had been so sudden, and continued with such speed and ferocity that Venom couldn't even react as his brain was being sloshed around in his skull, essentially just making him stand there and take it.

With a shout, Spider-Man then grabbed Betty around the waist with one arm and then, in the same motion, punched Venom in the solar plexus, disrupting the symbiote's hold and allowing him to effortlessly get Miss Brant out of immediate danger. Then, in a mere half a second, he'd set her on the ground and immediately gone back to beating the crap out of Venom.

However, that split-second delay had been enough for Brock to get his bearings back, and he blocked Parker's next punch, and then he blocked the follow-up punch, catching each fist in his hand. "Whatcha gonna do now, Parker?!

Not even deigning to speak, Peter reared back and then bashed his skull into Venom's while simultaneously driving his knee into the latter's stomach. Venom had effectively trapped himself with his own counter, and despite being warned by his Spider-Sense, wasn't able to evade the dual attack that came after.

Parker then vanished for a moment, before savagely kicking Venom in the back, intentionally causing some spine damage. Normally, he would never have been so brutal, but his brain still had some Nero in it. Besides the symbiote would heal Brock soon enough; a broken back, to Venom, was more like a sprained ankle to someone else. So of course, the battle for all worlds wasn't done yet.

So Parker continued beating on Venom, never allowing himself to lose the upper hand. Soon, however, he managed to calm himself down a bit and Spider-Man said, "You should have been paying attention earlier, Brock. I already said that I wouldn't let anyone die today. Not even you. Now stay down, before I go ask Nero for that flaming sword of his."

Turning to look around him, Spider-Man noted that the battle had largely come to an end, though there were a few pockets of conflict here and there. Deciding that he could spare a few moments to breathe now, Peter turned to Betty Brant and said, "I'm sorry you had to experience that, Miss Brant."

Then, sending a soft glare at Lotta Hart, he extended his hand. "I'm a photographer myself, I won't do anything to your camera, but I have to ask for your film. If the rest of my enemies knew about who I am, then everyone I care about would be in as much danger as Miss Brant just was. Is your scoop worth a dozen or so innocent lives?"

    OOC: Meanwhile, with Nero....

After successfully ripping Nelo Angelo into several pieces, Nero needed a moment to catch his breath. Wielding Red Queen in one hand, and Angelo's massive black blade in the other, he panted, trying to take in some breath. The battle seemed to be in its final stages, as the battlefield has largely been cleared. Nero hadn't cought sight of that granny alien bitch, which was a good thing. Allied or not, Nero would've immediately hacked her to pieces.

Managing to bring his heartrate back to normal, Nero realized that by this point he was alone in a field of burning corpses, no other life in any direction for a tleast fifty yards. His various comrades still seemed to be in good shape, though, though exhaustion looked to be setting in for a few of them.

Just as he decided that the battle had more or less been won, the sky itself tore open, and from the heavens emerged a massive stone figure he'd taken apart (from his perspective) earlier that very day.

Snarling with rage as his eyes glowed crimson, Devil Bringer blazing a brilliant blue, Nero hatefully whispered, "Sanctus...."

A wizened voice boomed over the plains, "THE SAVIOR HAS COME!"

Roaring with fury as he remembered what the old bastard had done to himself and tried to do to Kyrie, Nero unleashed his Devil Trigger and ran towards the marble goliath.

    "SANCTUS, YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!!!!"

OOC: And so concludes Spider-Man's action-related part of the Ultimate Showdown, while Nero's will resume and conclude in my next post, which will probably be either tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Spider-Man paused, and said, "No problem at all, Betty. Helping people is what guys like me are here for."

Cracking a soft smile, Peter said, "Actually I was going to suggest the opposite - I'd handle the development and return everything without my face on it."

However, at that moment, an ancient-sounding voice boomed across the battlefield, roaring, "THE SAVIOR HAS COME!"

Frowning, Peter Parker said, "But we can work that out later. Go find anyone else not currently fighting - Volstagg, Captain Britain, Stegron and Hauzer, Carnage, and Ultron in particular. I get the feeling Nero's going to need all the help he can get against that thing."

Peter then took a few steps in the Savior's direction, but fell to his knee; the wounds and exhaustion were catching up with him now that he'd lost his adrenaline surge.

Gritting his teeth, Peter forced himself back up. "I'm pretty sure that this will be it.... the final battle."

OOC: I'll be adding Nero's battle against the Savior later on, but anybody else who wants to whale on that bastard for a bit is more than welcome to!

"I think some of 'em are busy with their own fights right now." Lotta noted.

"As soon as they're ready, they can help back up Nero against that so-called 'Savior'." Betty noted. "Or against any other non-street level villains that are still around."

OOC: Don't know if it has a name, but I'm just gonna call Nelo Angelo's sword the Black Blade for convenience's sake.

Nero leapt high into the sky and tried to bash the Savior in the face with the Black Blade, but the bastard blocked with an arm the size of a skyscraper, backhanding Nero out of the air and into the ground quite some distance below.

At that moment, Spider-Man had made it to his side and dryly muttered, "Wow, someone bigger than Volstagg. Didn't think that'd happen anytime soon. I take it this guy's why you hate senior citizens so much?"

Shaking a few cobwebs out of his head, Nero nodded, "Damn right. Thing is, that motherfucker shouldn't be so powerful without a Son of Sparda at the core."

Sighing, Spider-Man said, "Well, looks like it's come down to just you and me for this, everybody else seems to be occupied with their own battles."

Grimacing, Nero muttered, "This is gonna suck..."

Nevertheless, resolved, the odd duo steeled themselves before running back towards the gigantic Savior, each leaping from point to point in order to climb up the collossus.

The Savior reached out to punch Spider-Man out of the sky, and had enough power that a single hit would be instantly fatal. However, Peter was warned by his Spider-Sense and webbed himself out of the way by zipping to the Savior's thigh, and then using his momentum to land a punch there.

Aside from nearly breaking his hand, it didn't do too much.

Nero was having slightly better luck, as with his Devil Trigger active, he was strong enough that his sword attacks could make cracks in the demonically-enhanced marble surface, but he didn't have enough time to use his Devil Bringer.

However, the wounds and exhaustion from nigh-constant battle throughout the last few hours was wearing them down, inducing tunnel vision and taking away their sense of time; something the complete lack of progress did nothing to alleviate.

Some time after they'd started, Peter suddenly noticed that one of the Savior's arms had been severed, and also that there was a fairly decent crater in the lower stomach.

Who the heck did that? he wondered.

Meanwhile, Nero noticed a flash of color and two blurs, as two of the others - he couldn't quite tell who - smashed in the Savior's eyes.

The Black Blade long since broken, and without enough energy to use Devil Trigger again, Nero stood on the Savior's outstretched remaining hand and, panting heavily, ran full-tilt at the gigant construct's neck, screaming all the way.

"You worshipped Sparda as God and tried to usurp his power, yet you have no idea at all what true strength is about!"

Spider-Man, straining to remain conscious, leapt at the azure jewel on the Savior's chest and yelled, "Power isn't about how big you are, it's about how big your heart is!"

Still running, Nero continued, "And some of the dumbasses I've had to deal with in this game have got the biggest fucking hearts I've ever seen!!"

Peter roared, "A man's power comes from his responsibilities! His duty to do what's right and to protect the innocent!"

Nero: "The fiery emotions broiling inside the human heart! Love and hate, rage and compassion, joy and sorrow, courage and despair!"

Peter: "True strength comes from one's own humanity!"

Nero: "A shithead like you, who sacrificed your humanity to become a demon, could never understand what real power is!"

The Savior boomed, "DELINQUENTS!! ARROGANT CHILDREN, ALL OF YOU! YOU DARE TO LECTURE GOD HIMSELF ON POWER?! YOU DARE TO QUESTION THE SAVIOR?! FOR YOUR IMPUDENCE, YOU WILL ALL SUFFER THE ULTIMATE PRICE!!!"

Nearing the Savior's core, Spider-Man and Nero yelled as one, before delivering their last attack.

"THIS IS FOR ALL OF CREATION!"

    "MOTHERFUCKER!"

As one, Nero drove Red Queen into the massive sapphire while Spider-Man punched it, each using up the last of their strength.

Unable to fight any further, the duo fell into unconsciousness and towards the ground, surprised to see the massive amounts of damage that the others had inflicted without their knowledge.

And as an unknown hero/ine caught the falling duo, the Savior's core shattered, and with a scream sent heavenwards, the marble collossus fell, breaking apart as it hit the ground.

    And then, there was silence.

Shuma-Gorath's forces appeared to have been routed.

Every participant in the Traitor Game seemed to have survived, though a few were quite the worse for wear.

And so the sun rose upon a bloodstained battlefield, heralding the dawn of a new day.

OOC: The Savior's too big for Nero and Spidey alone to handle, so even if I can't explicitly include other guys in the action, I've made it clear that they helped, while my dudes are too exhausted to notice that backup has even arrived. First come, first serve on dealing those injuries! I do have a few heroes in mind, but let's see who responds.... While I'm presuming that the fall of the Savior is pretty much the end of the battle, it actually took a few hours, so anyone else who wants to get in some awesome has a good window to work with. Now then, let's see what Jeremi comes up with in the morning....

"Ha Ha Ha! Partaking in such an epic battle is always good for the heart of an Asgardian! Do you not agree, son of Hibiki?"

Dan leaned over to Volstagg and whispered...

"Yeah, considering Nero and that "Savior" guy faked the whole fight. They redid one of their sequences for cripes' sake!"

"You shall hush! Now that our main obstacles have been neutralized, all that needs to be dealt with is Shu---"

"I don't think so, tubs! You see, you haven't defeated the Savior's partner yet....Me....

At that very moment, the unconscious Nero had a muscle spasm, which resulted in Red Queen being rapidly flung at Hibiki, shaving him bald and leaving a wierdass scar across his noggin.

As the battle rage on down below Jedah would be trying to occupy Shuma Gorath with less then stellar success as he's hit by a magic blast sending him crashing through the wall and outside into the forest. Hrnh... Jedah rose up just as Shuma Gorath hovered over him.

"This is as far as you go, little bat. For while your powers are vast, mine are infinite!" Another blast was sent towards Jedah who avoided it with his uncanny speed appearing behind Shuma.

"That may be, but even with all that power there is always a weakness." Jedah ripped off his head and threw it at Shuma who blocked it with a barrier as Jedah's head formed on his shoulders again. "And I have found them all."

"Hahahaha! Fool!" Shuma would lash with one of his tentacles at Jedah. "I have no weaknesses!"

Jedah would dodge out of the way while he slashed with his claws at the tentacle severing it. "Magic defeats magic, Shuma Gorath. I told you I always expected a double cross, one should not trust the words of a Chaos Lord after all" Jedah dodged the attacks sent at him as he continued. "I sent out a call across both universes to rally support against you."

"You...what have you done!" Shuma exclaimed in anger.

"Excluding that I have destroyed the anchors with which you grip the worlds there is also something else."

Meanwhile in Greenwich Village inside the Sanctum Sanctorum the man called Doctor Strange would be working his magic and reciting an incantation.

    "Seven rings has Raggador,
    indigo to deepest black,
but Oshtur grant me something more--
    the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak!"

At the same time at the other side of the universe in the land of Icelarn a sorcererologist named Tessa was too trying to work some magic.

"My, my this spell was more troublesome then I thought." But suddenly she felt something. "Oh hello, can everyone here me? Perfect! Now...repeat after me."

Back in the Spencer mansion the body of Shuma Gorath would be stuck to the ground unable to get up as Jedah looked down on him. "The masters of magic have rallied under my banner, Chaos Lord. Their spell powerful and through will set you in your place."

"A thousand deaths upon you!" Shuma tried to stretch his tentacle towards Jedah but to no avail. "Everything begins and ends with Shuma Gorath! I will not be defeated by such things as this!"

"You have been bested by me. There is no shame in that. Now..." And as if a legion of voices spoke in unison Jedah worded out the final part of the incantation.

    "Close tight,
    ye Bands of Cyttorak,
    and hear me,
hosts of Clannish, that by the will of us
may this Shuma Gorath now vanish!"

Shuma Gorath cried a deafening shriek as he was forcefully expelled back to his home dimension. Back with the players all the adversaries that had been brought against them had vanished. "Well done everyone." Jedah would walk through the destroyed doors of the mansion. "The Chaos Lord has been banished and the worlds are now safe thanks to us." Jedah would point at the centre of the floor where a portal would appear. "This will take you back to your home dimensions."

OOC: And that's that! Everyone feel free to finish up any fights you might have left and post those epilogues. Also a big thanks to Joe Acro for the binding spell!

    OOC: Epilogue: NERO

Shuma Gorath cried a deafening shriek as he was forcefully expelled back to his home dimension. Back with the players all the adversaries that had been brought against them had vanished. "Well done everyone." Jedah would walk through the destroyed doors of the mansion. "The Chaos Lord has been banished and the worlds are now safe thanks to us." Jedah would point at the centre of the floor where a portal would appear. "This will take you back to your home dimensions."
Eventually, somebody injected Spider-Man and Nero with syringes that brought them back to consciousness. Nero, looking around, promptly murdered Aunt May, punched the newly bald Dan Hibiki in the stomach, and dumped a can of gasoline on Ultron and lit it, before giving Volstagg and Betty Brant a salute, yelling, "I'm out of here, fuck all of you!" and had returned to his own world before anybody could react.

Upon exiting the portal, Nero found himself in the exact same point in spacetime that he'd left his world. Everything was still frozen, but the world was starting to speed back up again. Before it could become an issue, Nero casually slaughtered the cannon fodder around him and time switched back on immediately as he turned back to Kyrie.

Eyes wide with terror quickly gave way to surprise as she realized that, from her perspective, all the devils had vanished in an instant.

    "...Nero?"

With a soft smile nobody else would ever see, Nero said, "Let's get out of here, Kyrie."

Nodding with a beaming smile of her own, Kyrie replied, "Yes. Let's."

OOC: I'll do Spider-Man's epilogue later, since I imagine that there may be a plot thread or two involving Chris Lang's characters.

Betty Brant and Lotta Hart both looked around. "It's over ... finally." Betty said after a while.

"Reckgivin." Lotta said. "Guess the only thing left ta do is ta say our farewells and get outta here."

"Lotta..." Betty said. "This Spider-Man. He's not my world's Spider-Man. So you'll have to make the deal with the film before we go."

Lotta then turned to Peter. "Okay, so now we have ta get these photos developed. Yer actually the guy who takes those action photos for City Gal's newspaper, right? You can keep the photos of yerself, but let me have the rest of those action photos. The ones that don't have you without the mask. Is that a deal?"
