Default What was the Comico universe?

Bought some quarter comics recently and one of them was a one shot named Strike Force America by Comico. In the leyters page, they explained that these characters are part of the new Comico universe. Did Comico have a shared universe or were they making plans for one before the speculator market crashed?

There was no shared universe at Comico. All their series were stand-alone.

Toward the end they were really pushing the Elementals and spin-offs, and I think this title was a spin-off from that, maybe as part of an attempt to save the company before they went under.

    Maybe others can confirm/deny.

IIRC, there was crossover between Elementals and Justice Machine, two titles published by Comico.

That's the extent of a shared universe from Comico that I know of.

From what I remember they were stand alone series as mentioned above. A real good series was the Maze Agency by Mike Barr, a who-dunit mystery series starring detective Jennifer Mays and crime writer Gabriel Webb. Barr provided clues throughout the story to give you a chance to solve the mystery along with the detectives. Even won a Will Eisner award for new series. Was able to jump over to Innovation comics after Comico folded.
In search of Claire...or Libby Hoeler :D

Comico also published Johnny Quest, my favorite output from that company.

That's correct. Strike Force America were a spin-off from Elementals.

Never read it. Were any monkeys or apes involved?

If not, the "greatest thing ever" description is highly suspect, if not indeed downright treasonous.
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."

    That's the spirit!

In which vein, I'm pleased to report that over the weekend I picked up an old copy of Marvel Adventures Hulk, of which I'd previously read only the first couple of issues, & was pleased to be reminded that (I think) Rick Jones has a monkey companion. As he -- & everyone -- well should.

(I was, of course, utterly powerless to resist this cover --

    )

-- when I spied it on the shelves.)

I just discovered that not a single cover of the series pictured said simian, outrageously enough; no wonder I dropped it early on.

Here, though, is a depiction of the fine furry fellow, albeit cutting a disconcertingly unheroic figure --

I don't recall that he wore pants (or anything else). Either Rick is wearing some sort of jacket over his T-shirt, which seems unlikely, or ... I don't know. The monkey is wearing overalls?

On second thought, I'll bet Rick is wearing an open button-down shirt; under the semi-transparent Marvel logo, it looks like the sleeve is rolled up (which is how I wear mine; other than T-shirts, I won't wear short-sleeve shirts; haven't bought one in going on 30 years, I'm pretty sure). I think there's a good chance his companion is objecting to the color scheme &/or design.
