The movie Avengers don't have a sorcerer and a sea prince, though. I would hope that Marvel Studios would make The Defenders substantially different, though that would add to the difficultly of bringing it to the screen, I'm sure.

I think at this point, there doesn't have to be a tie-in to one of the Avengers. Marvel has enough of a track record and reputation, and super-heroes are a genre, that Marvel can, and should, do solo movies for the individual Defenders, just like they did for most the individual Avengers.

yeah but the tie-in is for the inevitable crossover movie. tell me you don't want to see Namor throw down with Iron Man onscreen?

on another note, would the board be against someone like Karl Urban as Strange?

Ah. It wouldn't be the Defenders if the Surfer was not involved. And Fox, I believe, is exploring a reboot of the Fatastic Four (minus Chris Evans I presume????)

I like the casting. Even Urban (like Luke Evans) is interchangeable as Namor/Strange.

    heh ...

If it's more nonsense like dumping sewage on Namor, then no thank you. But if we get to see something like this, then YES!

Well, I make it a genearl policy to NOT vote against Karl Urban. That said, I like Evans a bit better, as he can pull off the world weary pretty well.

Beta Ray Bill is cool, but I doubt they'll go with that in the movieverse, what with Thor being around. I don't think we'll get Surfer, cause he's tied up at Fox.

If Marvel were into it as much as DC/WB were, I'd LOVE to even just see an animated film.

Would Darkstar fall under Fox's license?

Does Universal still have a contract for Namor?

Marvel hasn't come out and said, but Feige said Universal didn't have anything, and they haven't gotten anything into production, so the implication is that Namor's rights reverted back to Marvel Studios.

Yeah, I would really love to see more expansion in Marvel's animation line. EMH would make a great place to introduce Defenders, at least, right?

My casting for the current comic...

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Doctor Strange (He plays Jaime Lannister in A Game of Thrones on HBO. He looks good with the 'stache in recent episodes, he's in his 40's, he has a noble sounding voice, aristocratic, handsome. I can see him easily pulling off the former sorcerer supreme. Just needs to get the touch of grey in his hair)
Jaimie Alexander as Red She Hulk (Sif from Thor, needs CGI for the the height perhaps, but you don't see a ton of 7 foot tall women running around with athleticism who can act..)
Tom Hardy as Namor (He can portray Namor no problem- you know him from Inception and he is portraying Bane in DKR. I almost went Robert Pattinson based on just looks- Pattinson LOOKS more like Namor, but I don't think Pattinson has the range. Namor would be a demanding role.)
Chris Pine as Iron Fist (easy)
Lawrence Fisburne as Silver Surfer (if it aint broke...)

I can see Karl Urban working, he has a pretty broad range as an actor as well.
