Ah, yes. Some of my favorites also. I have a scan of the color set Ross did somewhere. Very 30s / 40s.

I've enjoyed Luke Evans in the films I've seen him in -- he was good in The Raven. I'll have to watch Immortals again. Zeus is closer to Namor than Aramis.

Namor's a McKenzie, so he's of Scottish descent on his da's side. I don't think of Namor as American, even if his father was one. And TBH, I think a non-American would be better suited.

He's also appearing in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", so he's definitely on the way up and he'll have a wider audience and recognition.

Yes indeed. That will definitely up his popularity quotient.

You know, he might actually be better for Dr. Strange.

    Or Namor?

    I'm leaning toward Dr. Strange.

this is the first that i've seen of the guy. but i'd take him as either. i think that most young up-and-comers would audition for Namor before Strange; it's a more physical role. his physical profile is very similar to that Ross sketch at the top of the board, as well.

He does have that old Hollywood look ... with some edge. With the moustache, he reminds me of Errol Flynn.

I'm surprised, as you seem more well viewed concerning movies, than I. Luke Evans is a bit of the chameleon, but he was Apollo in the remake of Clash of the Titans, Zeus in the Immortals, Aramis in the recent Three Musketeers, and the Detective Fields in the Raven. I'm sure he's done other stuff, but those are what I've seen him in. Definitely looking forward to seeing him as Bard in the Hobbit.

give me dr. strange, iron fist, namor, valkyrie, hulk. and as villains maybe the skrulls. Cause Thanos is in avengers 2 and ultron could be in 3rd one if made. Skrulls as villains would up interest in movie as well.

Ah, his smallest role, but the one I first noticed him.

The more I look at that Raven PR pic, the more I'm seeing Dr. Strange.

Manu Bennett doesn't exactly look like Namor, but I think his attitude, emotional intensity and physicality in Spartacus is a good fit.

And I haven't watched him in BSG, but I've thought Tahmoh Pinkett sort of looks like Namor.

He looks it, but from BSG I didn't once think of him as Namor as I watched it. Then again, the character he played was very different.

Also, I was thinking about it ... if Valkyrie and She Hulk were in it, Defenders may become an analogue to Avengers (Thor and Hulk). So who'd be the team, and would it matter if there are some similarities in characters to the Avengers?

to work as a movie without solo movies for all members there needs to be one or two links to Avengers so it attracts people to the film

I could definitely see him as Strange, albeit a sort of 'young' Strange. It would be okay if he looks good with his shirt off. Strange is a martial artist too.

Anyone care to 'doctor' that photo and give him the grey on his temples and the moustache?

I think a team of Hulk, Dr Strange, Iron Fist and then introduce Valkyrie in a Thor movie and and introduce Namor in a Captain America one and they're set!

True. Very true. I say go with what works. Release the solo films first, or at least a couple, that would eventually lead to a Defenders movie. Could even have characters like Valkyrie and She-Hulk appear in Thor or Hulk sequels first.
