And salt is much better on a hamburger than sugar.

(Theoretically, that is . . . I tried a dining hall hamburger with sugar on it instead of salt once back in college (and on purpose), and it didn't taste any worse than the typical ones with and without salt. I got out of the dining halls the next school year.)

But what if we are offered to compare them? Say, like the trailer for TDKR being see just before the Avengers? Really, its not like people wouldn't be discussing the subject but when you get a contrast like that... on purpose. Sure, it makes sense to attach it to a huge film but I would have made a much better trailer than that to pair with.

The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises will scratch different itches. I don't see why there has to be some division between them. It's apples and oranges. The only similarity is the seeds. They're both super hero-related films.

I think The Dark Knight Rises will be more compelling, but The Avengers will win in the FUN department. The Dark Knight Rises is also the end of a cycle, while the Avengers is for all intents and purposes, the beginning of one. And in a way neither the comics or any super hero trilogy to date, The Dark Knight Rises aims to close the book on Batman as a narrative as far as this iteration goes. There is a finality there that is appealing.

Either way, don't stop yourself from seeing both for different reasons, or the same reasons if they're valid (or invalid, just go see the friggin' movies).

This whole predicting box office glory has become such a pissing contest, it's ridiculous.

I guess it matters to Avengers fans that their movie does well, because that increases the likelihood of a sequel--and even more spin-off movies. So good for them, they got what they wanted. But the performance of TDKR isn't going to impact that one way or the other.

As for Nolan's Bat-verse--we know this is the last one. Hopefully it will do well, but really it doesn't matter what the box office is like. Whether it surpasses TDK or not in ticket sales, there still isn't going to be another one. It's not like Green Lantern or John Carter--where the bad box office for both diminishes the chances of sequels. There's no sequels for this Dark Knight.

And that means the pressure is off. We can go and see this last movie, free of anxiety, just enjoying the end of a good series.

As a fan of both the DC and Marvel, I'm happy that they're doing well. It doesn't really matter to me if The Avengers makes more money.

I think it is good that The Avengers movie is good and succesful, because it makes hope for more comic based movies. Which is good news for all of us. ^^

Hot? lol I guess in a geeky looking way, which still makes her not so great choice for Catwoman. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow now that's hot.

It's not about which character or characters are in a film It's about is that film any good or not, that's all I care about. Of all the Marvel/DC characters that have featured in movies to date, my two favourite characters are Catwoman and Elektra. Unfortunately, both of their films were bloody awful.

That's what i want and hope for.I am a Marvel fan and i'm glad that Marvel finally has a series of films that worth my money and make me happy, but i am also glad that we had a Batman movie franchise that managed to survive after the horrendous Batman And Robin and be a world's hit. It's a win-win situation for true comic book fans.

I'm not sure why it is important whether or not people like Batman more or less than the Avengers. Nobody here is getting married to any comic book franchises, so faithful commitments seem kind of pointless.
