Kirby's stuff is still great, but he's not my favorite. I think Bob Brown is my favorite.

Now Lee's writing and dialogue were horribly sexist. I suppose one can say it was a reflection of the times they were written, as well as the attitude of their audience.

I read FF4 Essentials for the first time this past year, and just about every issue has some slight of Sue, or her acting out in some cliched way. On top of that, she often played the victim, the damsel in distress that had to be rescued.

I know there are fans of early FF4. It made me gag.
That had to be all Lee. I've never seen Kirby do that in his solo work.

One of the guys who did the Civil War parodies back in 2006 must have been a classic fan of the FF from that period. Because his Reed Richards I believe started off one conversation "Well Sue , you wouldn't understand...your a woman. Your woman mind can't possibly comprehend the science involved in building a Negative Zone prison."
"Heads up-- If Havok's position in UA #5 really upset you, it's time to drown yourself hobo piss. Seriously, do it. It's the only solution." - Rick Remender

I think that's a safe bet super, though they needn't have been a fan. Just aware.

    Hold on. Time out.

The word "hipster" is a huge insult to nerds? I thought it was a compliment. I hope it hasn't been co opted by
the infinitesimal fracturing of levels compare people to other people.

Also the poster who used euphemisms for women didn't understand how it offended women. LOL!

Double also: I imagine Sara Boxer to be totally hawt!

    Bros aren't nerds . . .

Well, maybe the ones that play call of duty and call everyone online "fag".

The whole "Hipsters Must Die" thing is just another one of those Internet memes that was kind of funny until everyone was using it. Which is, ironically enough, a very Hipster-like attitude to have about the entire thing.

I'd thought she was kidnapped because she was integral to Darkseids plan of solving the anti-life equation.

It was that stuff that won me over as a kid. I remember reading my brothers DC Comics and coming across this:

That sold me on Kirby completely and I raided his huge American comic collection and lapped up all of Kirby's work.

    Well fuck.

Either dig comics or not, Kirby is just Kirby. Like what you will.

    Ain't nothing wrong with genitalia.

Whereas *fandom* of itself will amount to but very little. Like ethnicity or BMWs.

Anybody overestimating themselves will amount to being a shitbird. Even feminists, or surfer gods.
Been called a 'good egg'. Been told to rock, been told to steady myself. Been told to (please) be goin' places.
Chillingly good stuff besides Mignola, Slint, M, Knut and really big chunks of tinfoil?
Half sunk in the mud, with one eye showing / a cracked smile and hair still growing /
your hands miles apart, as if they'd never met / you were the happiest I'd seen you yet

As someone who has been reading american comics for years and back-read Lee,Ditko but not read Kirby comics yet which series would you recommend first ? I have of course heard alot of how important he is historical in the field. For some reason i havent read him yet. I prefer if you recommended a non-superhero work of his first. I like other genre classics of american, western comics.
    Pull List:
    The Walking Dead,Fatale,Near Death,Storm Dogs,Happy,BPRD,XO-Manowar
    American Vampire,Animal Man,Swamp Thing
    Daredevil, Winter Soldier,Indestructible Hulk
