Haven't seen the second GR but if its even worse then GR1 then my god.......
As for Punisher, he would work if they just made a damn Vietnam war movie like Apocalypse Now and then a sequel similar in feel to American Gangster. They could even manage a cameo of the Punisher in Captain America as an old man still fighting his war.
I think Aaron's retcon was a great way of handling that. Rather than it being demons or spirits of ancestors, all of the Spirits of Vengeance were originally weapons of heaven, which kind of makes sense if you subscribe to the belief that demons are angels cast-out of heaven. Unfortunately, as fun as it was, it didn't do well enough for Marvel not to jettison everything that Aaron built up in his run. He even left it so we could have our cake and eat it too with both Johnny and Danny as Riders AND a new Vengeance.
And I second a Ghost Rider/Midnight Sons film or even a TV series. That's better than cop-Punisher.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Well, it seems that Fox has decided to pass on The Punisher tv series...
Additionally, per THR, the pilot for a television series based on The Punisher is not moving forward. ABC Studios and Fox gave a put pilot commitment to the show, with Criminal Minds writer/producer Ed Bernero onboard, but they declined to pick the pilot up to series. So for now, it appears that The Punisher is dead.

R.I.P. Don't pee in the (Dead)pool, November 2007 - January 2013
The movie's decription of his origins make a hell of a lot more sense than anything done in the comics.
ESPECIALLY after all that Noble Kale stuff.
I wish somebody would have thought up the fairly straightforward "Hell's Bounty Hunter" angle in the 90's it would have saved me from reading a bunch of REALLY bad stories.
Its hard to make a serious film about a stunt rider with his head on fire.
The first flick aimed for cheezy fun(Peter Fonda was the Devil for christ sakes!!!) and hit the mark, the second one tried to be scary which was less sucessful.
Unless you do a Blade and go for the gore R-rating you got the best Ghost Rider movies possible considering what the character is.
Face it, the quality ceiling for a Ghost Rider movie is AT BEST somewhere between R rated monster flicks The Mimic and Jeepers Creepers 2.

Possibly. I was very disappointed in the last one. There was a great opportunity to push the character, and I'd say production dropped the ball on this last one. There were too many, "...what???...." moments. When he was giving the one guy the penance stare in the gravel yard, I mean...really? What was that all about?
Too many hole's in the story. I didn't look like a finished product.
I hope Marvel reacquires the rights to the character, so he can properly be re-booted. The last one sucked.

No I think there will be more Ghost Rider movies.
He hasn't gotten a movie made that is Batman Begins quality but I don't think they'll stop trying just because of failure.
From Ghost Rider (Vol6) Issue 4
Ghost Rider "Then I'll make him go back. I'll hunt him down, in all his forms, until only one remains, and Then... I'll drag him back into Hell myself."

Everytime I see what they are doing, I frustratingly say:
How. Can. You. FK. That. Up?
Ghost Rider has possibly the greatest look any charaters has ever had. I mean look at him, his image is pure awesomeness. Even in the second movie, they added the blackness Charcoal-thing to his look and he looked even more badass. Yet they vomited another crappy movie with a stupid story. What's wrong with these people?
Kurt Busiek Says:"Best Avengers Run, Steve Englehart's run in the 1970s. With Roy Thomas's run that preceded it close behind, and the Conway/Shooter/Michelinie run that followed close behind that
Oh there will be, its my duty to make sure.
Titles Reading........................
Ghost Rider--gone
Captain Britain and M-13----gone
Guardians of the Galaxy----gone
Mighty Avengers----gone
Incredible Hercules--gone
They need to be more satannic and upsetting. Not funnier. Flashy visuals are the only real strength of GR outside of scary movie material.
