According to whom? I'd say, as Kick-Ass (Who is not actually my long lost son, just so we're clear) says, that overall sales is more important. Top ten is an arbitrary cutoff that doesn't really hold any more weight than top 25, top 50 or even top 12 for that matter. Marvel sold more comic books and made more money, those aren't arbitrary cut offs based around a randomly chosen number.
"If you can't say anything good about someone, sit right here by me." - Alice Roosevelt Longworth, on manners
"It's not whether you win or lose, it's whether I win or lose." - Peter David, on life
Well, that certainly was a well reasoned and clever retort.
Given, but as the subject debated in this thread clearly exhibits: the vast majority of that and the discussion of it is based around dudes in spandex punching each other. No, it's forum dedicated to COMIC BOOKS, which is an art form that encompasses a whole lot more than people in costumes.
Likewise, there have been plenty of intelligent and thoughtful conversations pertaining to monthly sales. Just because you personally don't care for the subject matter doesn't make it irrelevant compared to the majority of what shows up here. There have been plenty of incredibly thoughtful conversations on this forum. And if you can't see that, it's on you. The hilarious examples you mention exist, but there's plenty of other stuff on these forums, and there has been for the decade plus I have sporadically posted. If you want to show up ten years late to the party and then insult everyone because you see a couple of dumb threads, again, that's on you.
And your longevity doesn't make the forum some great bastion of intellectual discourse. As an FYI, I'm not exactly new here, I've been registered on this forum since (As is clearly indicated by looking two inches to the left) since 2008.
The fact remains that the vast majority of content on this website is probably viewed by the world at large (Including most legitimate intellectuals) as a colossal waste of time. The sooner you accept this, the sooner you'll be able to remove that apparently gigantic chip from your shoulder.
Dude, are you thirteen or just socially inept? You're seriously going to close out this half-assed excuse for a response with "nuh uh, you're wrong?"But more to the point, again, arguing about sales is stupid. And embarrassing. Have some dignity.
Well, you're wrong. Sorry.

Look, you can go talk in threads about how you think Batman is the best read it's ever been right now thanks to the authors. You can talk about how Action Comics is a bold new direction, and how JLA has great art, etc. etc.
You can talk about how DC has the best reads in your opinion.
But to say that DC is now the #1 company. No. That would be an absolute lie. They are not the #1 company in the comics biz. And at this point, with the New 52 having failed that mission, it's likely they will never again be the #1 company.
The faceless multi-national corporation that I inexplicably support is better than the nearly identical faceless multi-national corporation for reasons I can't define.
Yep...there's a hell of a lot to argue about there.
And yours are (likewise) smug, self-important (The nerve of someone who can come in here to tell people that they're wasting they're time and arguing stupidity is the very epitome of self-importance) and incredibly hostile. You may consider taking your own advice.
Why yes, in fact, I was recently diagnosed with stigmatism, thank you for noticing.
More to the point, however, I was more or less simply condescending. I got his point fine, his point just happened to be idiotic. Why? One simple reason: you know what's more idiotic about arguing about comic book sales figures? Arguing about the merits of arguing about comic book sales figures (Of which I'm clearly guilty as well, but with the caveat that I've managed to accept that I'm wasting my time).
