    Default More Mutants

Perhaps I soley share this desire, but is anyone else hoping that their will be more mutants after the ending of AVX? Personally Post if you like peace.

I say yes. The whole mutant persecution plot that we've seen over and over just doesn't make any sense if there's not going to be more mutants.

The title of this thread is unfortunate.

Crap I didn't hit the "T" button hard enough, let alone double check. Thanks for the compliment on the "Peace" though. Just my way of ending a sentence.

I'd say yes, without going into the population of millions. X-men always worked best when muties were a 'possible' evolution instead of a definite replacement. Never did like Morrison saying Humans were a genetic dead-end. Smacked of Speciesism.

Yeah, but not too many. The whole "mutants are endangered" thing has been a pretty good plot point, and we only lost a few mutants that actually mattered, like Blob. Danni has proved useful even without her powers.

I like the idea of the X-gene being turned back on. I think the best thing would be for it to be that the new generation(s) of Mutants to arise slowly or are just now being born. That way, the X-Men can fight for mutant rights without the stories being encumbered by dozens and dozens of new mutants.

I prefer mutants being strong against discrimination. Being a dying species, I just don't get what's interesting or satisfying to read about that, sorry.

Nah and I'd actually like a few to die during this war.

That way the x-men can kick Emma and Scott out and find another way to help the mutant population.

It seems to me though that there's a huge segment being ignored. What about the people who like being human and don't want to be freaks? I write of the Morlock types with the hideous appearance of monsters. It seems in the haste to restore the species, Cyclops is deliberately ignoring the people who felt victimized by their mutations.

I totally agree with your statement Martin. I also like Doctor Sonic post as well, but I would want just a few new fresh faces to join the Utopia ranks. While Wolverine has Broo, Kid Gladiator, Warbird, Kid Krakoa. Cyclops and gang haven't receive any new characters on their end. At least a two new females and a male mutant to pop up would be nice after AVX for me anyways.

Personally I don't care one way or another. I'm more interested in where mutants stand public wise after this rather than if they're still endangered or not.

As things have progressed, what constitutes 'mutant' in the X-Men lexicon has evolved. Although not mutants in the original use of the term, Broo and Danger have both been accepted into the ranks as mutants in their own rights. Alien cross-breads could fit into this new version of the label, such as Hulking from Young Avengers, as well as second generation metahumans who inherited their extr-human abilities via 'mutated' genetics (like the cast of Secret Warriors and Finesse from Avengers Academy). Finally, as much as it breaks my heart, I doubt that Runaways will ever been green lit for a new ongoing series. Rathe than letting the characters float off into limbo, why not bring Molly and plant girl into the fold?
