Default Another way Batman is like Iron Man

    I don't know . . . the new Bat-armor bothers me a little . . . it looks more like it's a RPG miniature or something.

It also remninds me a lot of this:

Didn't Bruce maybe have some of JPV's old Bat-armor lying around the Batcave or something?

(Maybe it didn't have any good climate control capabilities for when Alfred turned down the heat to affect the Talons?)

I'm sure Knight and Squire could have given Bruce pointers in the past on more stylish armor.

But I guess it's better than this.

The only thing that irks me about it is the part around the mouth. It looks like a mouth of a furnace, ready to blow fire upon the owls. And belt is laughable given the size of fingers.
Otherwise it's okay design and also good keeping up with the tradition of Bat-armors, especially animated ones.

You probably mean another way Iron Man is like Batman, since Batman debuted a couple of decades after Batman.

No he is right as far as armor goes.

Bat-Armor always bugs me a bit, but it's a reality of the character at this point, one that existed before Knightfall emphasized the whole point of "Batman relies on skill". Hell, as mentioned, even in the animated universe they had Bruce use armor occasionally and they were always sticklers for not letting Batman rely too much on his gadgets. I'm hoping he doesn't wear it for too long, but I don't think him wearing this ostensibly mainly because he's fighting in subzero temperatures is enough to declare he's lost sight of his skill. He beat Cobb/the maze without even his utility belt, so I don't think Capullo and Snyder have lost sight of Batman's skill. I dunno, it's a precarious thing, some people have complained about all the punishment Batman has survived based on skill and determination in this arc while others are complaining about him having armor to survive a squad of ninja zombies in subzero temperature.

That seems like something from Grant Morrison!

    Oh, Ralph Wiggum.

For the record all that bat-armor is gross looking, so it's null-void. And, the JPV Batsuit might be the worst of the bunch. I'm not a big Bat-Armor fan, but I don't mind when it's needed.

Of the pictures posted in this thread, I'd say the DCAU Bat-Armor is my favorite design. All the other ones don't look that great, though, yeah.

I only brought up the JPV suit because it has past continuity . . . this new version, I don't know if there's been any explanation (yet) as to why or when it was originally developed. When did Batman think "Gosh, I may need a robotic suit of armor one day"? Did he see the Iron Man movie and think it would be cool to have one? Was it a failed prototype for Batwing?

The preview for Batman #9 explains what the purpose of the armor is.

Thanks. I don't always check previews (I sometimes prefer to just wait until I buy the book), but I'll probably go take a peak.

EDIT: Well, the preview sort of explains what it can do, but I didn't get any sense of what caused him to develop it or when.

Maybe when we get to read the full issue it will shed a little more light on the subject.

Furnace you say? I present to you Ironman's steam armor.
