Yes. I'd say it's one of the best Spider-Man stories ever.

It was a great Spider-Man story, concidering the time of its publication, which except Jenkin's run on spec and especially Peter PArker (which by that time was canceled, if memory serves) ASM was not looking good, at least in my opinion. I would not say it's in my top 15 but it is enjoyable to read. Personally I would maybew put it in the top 50 for sure, not sure if it could crack the top 25.

It's a solid 12-issue action movie-style story arc that manages to be clever enough to add new shades of characterization to Spider-Man's longtime enemies and even Peter himself as well as Mary Jane and Black Cat and their relationships with each other and him. It also slips in a few interesting ideas about how super-villains came to be so prevalent in the Marvel Universe and why exactly the smarter superheroes have never really succeeded at using their brilliance to better the world in more substantial ways than just punching out the nearest super-powered/extraterrestrial/extra-dimensional menace. Plus, it redefines just what a twisted, downright evil bastard Norman Osborn is, Goblin or no Goblin.

I like it, but not as much now as when it first came out. At the time, it was pretty much the only Spidey book on the stands that didn't bore me to tears. Still a good read, though.

I thought that it ended rather lamely but was still an excellent story. #3 features possibly my favourite comic book fight scene of all time too.
