As the summer movie season begins, Marvel's superhero team-up "The Avengers" earned $80.5 million Friday, putting the film in the position to break domestic opening-weekend records.

Early reports say it made around 70 million on Saturday. The opening weekend record is about to be shattered. Unless for some strange reason it only makes like 20 million on Sunday.
