yikes, seeing those costumes together like that....the one for the solo movie is miles ahead of the avenger one.

    I gotta agree.

Solo movie Cap uniform looked better, and IMO better suited the nature of the character. He's a solder more than a super hero at least at that point.

Exactly, this time around they needed the hero aspect then the Solider. And given that Coulson was a cap fan boy he probaly desinged it more to his USO coustume not Stark's.

I don't know, seeing the Avengers version of his costume in action I actually like that one better over his solo movie. The new one just captures his acrobatic style of fighting. Where as the solo shows him more as a brick. I agree at first I was hesitant of his new outfit from the stills but seeing in theaters I grew into even liking it more over the solo version.

The solo movie costume looks better on film because it adds some needed bulk to Evan's frame but the Avengers movie costume would be an acceptable update in the comics when Steve is drawn in the brawny fashion we expect. The awful helmet would have to go though. I love the one from the solo movie. Substitute that one onto the Avengers movie costume and I think it would be a nice upgrade.

I never really understood the feeling that characters were "so iconic" that they couldn't have their outfits redesigned. Almost every major X-Men character has gone through a huge evolution of different looks to suit the various stages of their lives and careers. Even Steve Rogers has gone through changes over his time as a superhero, and I don't see what's wrong with the suit reflecting the current state of affairs, rather than reflecting one moment for all of history. As long as the spirit of the character is there, I don't see the problem. It's possible to be both iconic and modern at the same time.

I honestly love the suit Steve wore as Director of SHIELD, through most of Secret Avengers and beyond. It's become one of my favorite superhero costumes of all time, actually, as it effectively reflects his "past" as Captain America, but also updates him to a modern operative look, with just enough flare to still be a comic book hero.

I'm not suggesting he keep that exact look again. But I would be completely in favor of ditching the chainmail-esque frills and huge boot/glove cuffs. I also don't think it's necessary to cover almost his whole head. Keep the flag colors, but sleek him down a bit.

No truer statement. His Super Soldier costume was so damn awesome. Now it's on lame-o Double Fury McShoehornedBlackCharacter. Even so, he should still get a little bit of a costume revamp. And I definitely don't mean copy the Ultimate Cap costume. Just modernize it a bit. Give him boots and practical gloves- just keep them red like the movie. I even like the shoulder stripes from the movie too. His costume's a little hard to just change up but it could use a little revamp.

Captain America's costume is a classic, and it is timeless, but it looked kinda over the top back then too.
I hate costume changes because usually they're about trying to make the comics seem more realistic and believable, which is something that annoys me bad enough when I see it in the movies, never mind the comics.

Now I kinda contradict myself. I'd be all for Captain America changing back to the Bucky costume. It's not a major change. It's not an attempt to make him look more real, it's just a cooler looking costume that doesn't abandon any of the important design elements of the original. When I see the Bucky costume, I don't even notice right away that it isn't Steve Rogers. I think "Captain America" when I see that costume. It's the best costume redesign I've seen since Spider-Man stopped having webs dangling from his armpits.

Of course, Cap would have to leave the guns behind.

I do like how the costume in the Cap movie looked better than the one in the Avengers movie, but to be honest I enjoyed seeing him fight in the more ridiculous looking costume. The first one was utilitarian. The new one's all stars and stripes, he doesn't care about looking cool at all and he doesn't have to because he is cool.

The least they could do if they want to keep the classic threads is have him sometimes change some colors for certain missions.. like if he's going on a secret mission in the night let him wear the black sleeves and pants, black boots, add a dark colored bandoleer and maybe a black helmet but keep the star.. then you got a badass costume.

Both looked great, but the Avengers costume allowed for better acrobatic stuff which I loved.

I think I liked the Avengers costume a little bit more because of all the acrbatic/agility stuff also, like when at the end he is running to the cops and the Chitauri are basting at him and the cars are exploding and flipping from under him and stuff. Plus the fights seem to show him with more speed and agility as well as the strength.

No, we need Captain America to take the uniform back. It remains my favorite Captain America uniform.

Cap IS getting a new costume, and I think he's never looked cooler.
