I could definitely see your point if we were talking about his shield, but his costume...

The boots and the sleeves could use some touch-ups. If I could re-design Cap, I'd make the red and white more prominent, like our flag.

Also, there's a difference between improving and re-inventing. The wheel has no doubt been improved over the years, thanks to our friends, ball bearings.

Because you don't update an iconic costume like Captain America's.

I think Caps costume is perfect the way it is. I don't see anything wrong with it, if they did change it, unless it was horrendus, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But Cap is one of the most iconic heros in the U.S. and maybe the world (they might not like, him but they probably know him) in large part due to his suit.

So when Steve came back and reused the original suit I just couldn't believe it. Why couldn't he he use the new suit? Or perhaps use his Super Soldier suit?

Reading Captain America and Hawkeye is so damn distracting because we have Hawkeye in his new modern suit that looks more like a military outfit meant for function, fighting alongside a guy who looks like he's going to a costume party.

I know some costumes are "timeless" and "classic" and all that, but it's not like there's no precedent for popular characters changing costumes. Iron Man changes like every decade, Wolverine has had like 3 costumes in his career, etc. Even Spider-man has had some temporary changes.

So what's the deal? Why is it that Steve Rogers can't get a new or at least somewhat updated (maybe ultimate style) costume?
Comic book fans have a "classic" fetish. Old is allways better then new, even when it clearly isn't.
That's why many veterans who aren't that good still have jobs, why Wolverine wears a costume created by a guy who didn't knew what a Wolverine looked like and why Cap still wears that horrible thing.

The current one yea. Current Cap costume there's a clear cut between the mask and the chainmail.

    Kirby's Cap:

You see there's no visible cut between the mask and the rest of the costume.

i actually think movie cap should use in the next movie an adaptation of the suit he wore as shield comander, the mask isnt working and has to go,or they should make it a godamn helmet as is reflected in the promo arts of the movie.

About comic suit updated, sure, specially the boots and gloves need to go, and please dont replace them with those silly straps everywhere type, those are so 90s. the mail thing could be update as some sort of tech suit armor.keeping the aspect but having functionality.

The problem with that is it's too far from his iconic look. They can change the costume enough so that it works AND gives a nod to his original costume.

Personally, I loved his solo movie costume, should've just kept that. Had him look bulkier and the mask didn't look as awkward. The costume in the Avengers movie made him look much thinner in the arms and neck.

Yeah, I prefer the solo movie look.

As to his costume in general, I'm sure he COULD have one, but my question is why does he need a new one?

Do you mean for the Avengers movie? Frankly, it's because the movie one sucked. It's a very poor, awkward fit imo.

I'm talking about his second costume that Kirby designed for him that he has had for most of his run. Have you ever read a Captain America since the 40s? Look at the Avengers cover I showed you. Ring a bell?

I do prefer the solo movie one, but the Avengers movie one grew on me by the end. It actually worked pretty well next to the rest of the group and didn't look as bad in motion as it does in some of the stills at least to me.

As for the comics I don't really see much of a need to update the suit. It already manages to look functional and symbolic, I wouldn't necessarily hate a new or tweaked costume, but Cap's current look still works perfectly well.

I liked both movie costumes, I thought they were both great.
