He could have carried a batman grapple gun, or just had a really high tech gun.

Yeah he should have also had guns, the arrows should have been strictly for things he couldn't have really done with a gun. I don't really even get the idea behind archer superheroes, I mean, I guess they're meant to seem less dangerous or lethal or something because they've got arrows and not bullets, like arrows are more whimsical or something because they recall a bygone era, and Robin Hood, but they all kill the same. It's just something I've never really understood. I mean, I've always gone why it's done, but I've always found it stupid.

He DID have a gun. The Bow and arrow worked better for his opponents

I don't remember seeing him ever use a gun. There were times he was just simply shooting things, no reason he couldn't have used a gun then. The only time I can think of when the bow was really called for was when you curved the arrow around when attacking the helicarrier, and the trick shots.

Right at the beginning he shot Nick Fury and at Maria Hill.

They don't always have to be lethal, I mean, if you want to capture someone, use a net arrow or a knock-out gas arrow (good for a crowd). If you want some heavy firepower, explosive arrows, sonics, or even acid. Trick arrows are like a Swiss army knife (or, if you want, Batman's utility belt) with the potential to not just do different things than guns but to be more powerful as well.

Also, in Secret War, Hawkeye effectively uses a normal arrow to pierce Piledriver's bullet-proof skin.

Another thing to keep in mind, if you are going to use a weapon, use one that if it gets knocked out of your hands cannot be picked up by someone else and used against you. A gun, knocked to the ground, can be turned against you be even the most inept of people. But a Bow and arrow? Firstly the person picking up the bow has to have arrows. Secondly, most people probably cannot even pull a compound bow to the point where it becomes easy to pull. And if they can, and they have an arrow, archery is much more a learned skill then shooting a gun. It takes practice to get good enough to hit a stationary target, much less a moving one.

And finally, a bow and arrow is just frakin' cool.

That dialogue looks so cheesy when it's written down. "You got the lightning, light the bastards up"? Ugh ...

Dude's from 1942. Of course he's cheesy. That's why his lines were so great. And that one in particular is pretty badass.

I FINALLY was able to watch this today, and I think that it lived up to the hype. It's officially my favorite super hero movie. It was a better Thor movie than Thor (I'm a big Thor fan, and the Thor movie was a disappointment to me. I'm not a fan of Natalie Portman.) The entire cast had great chemistry, and the dialogue was well-written. The fight scene at the end was very well done- it's difficult to make a 30 minute fight scene interesting, but they managed to do it. Plus, they managed to fit Black Widow and Hawkeye in in a meaningful way without making them seem ridiculous. Unfortunately, I had the Thanos scene spoiled (well, maybe it was fortunate, because I might have had a heart attack from level 10 nerdgasm).

My only criticism of the movie is that the first 15 - 20 minutes weren't as good as the rest. The beginning dragged a bit, and there were a few cheesy lines (e.g., "My plan is action") The movie really picked up once the team was assembled on the Helicarrier. I kept wishing that they would have inserted background shots of Spiderman and Daredevil trying to save innocent bystanders during the invasion. Damn the pre-Iron Man licensing deals! Anyway, I hope that the FF revert back to Marvel before Avengers 2- the FF and Silver Surfer would be useful in a movie featuring Thanos.

IT RULED! My brother who was forced to take me (I'm 13 and he's 16) Kept saying on the way 'Its gonna suck' Stupid heroes ect but, when we got in the cinema he said 'This is the biggest screen!' WE LOVED IT! Can't wait for the DVD! I loved the movie so much, the best characters were everyone! Especially Black Widow.

Yeah, because Hawkeye is soooooooooo worried about hurting peoples' feelings.

Yeah, I forgot he used guns at the start of the movie. He should have guns throughout the movie.
