I really think its incomparable to Transformers, since in The Avengers you can tell whats going on, and care about the characters involved. Bay's Transformers is relaly just a kinda messy bullet filled explosion fest. Which can be cool, but not if it's incomprehensible.

You spent a lot of time getting to know The Avengers too. Transformers you barely got to know any of the robots. I think that's a big difference.

    I think that's totally acceptable.

Yeah, the movie actually gives you a reason to care when one of the characters gets hurt, as well as who they are. Not just a nameless machine.

Hell the TransformersAnimated movie ( done by Marvel btw) was better at making us feel for the death of season one transformers.

It was good to have a well balanced Superhero movie. I loved X-Men but I think they set the trend of serious Superhero movies so everyone followed that path.

Avengers had a good mix of fun and seriousness. I like Batman and Spiderman but I'm burnt out on angst superheroes.

Saw it twice, laughed so much at some parts, enjoyed the action sequences and special effects, overall well done movie!! My only wish is for some heavy-hitter female hero/villain characters to be introduced in the future.

Whedon feels the same way, so I'm hoping we two new female characters in the sequel.

    I loved it this move.

It hit most of the right notes. I was highly skeptical when Whedon was announced as director, but he did a solid job. He curtailed enough of his signature storytelling quirks to deliver all the goods a big budget summer action flick should. He handled probably the toughest aspect of an ensemble big action movie fairly well: keeping the action flowing while also giving the characters some actual dimension. It was very good, but not fantastic.

Really, my biggest complaint was that Hawkeye kept referring to the Black Widow as "Nat" instead of "Tasha."

Now that Coulson's gone, here's hoping the introduce a familiar face from the comics as the Avengers new SHIELD liaison. Maybe Clay Quartermain?

I felt it quite ironic that, although most of the team members in the film aren't ones I'm very fond of in the comic (I'm a fan of The Vision, Ms. Marvel, Wonder Man & Beast, Scarlet Witch, Hank & Jan Pym). I was very pleased with the end result. EPIC!

Maybe. Did all the bullets hit Loki's armor? Of course, taking an exploding arrow to the face without scratch should pretty much mean you're bullet-proof too.

I liked that Thor Supercharged Tony's armor.

    Why Because of CONTINUITY!!!

Tony's Father based his new element ( Until ofther wise I shall call it Uru) on the power source in Captian America
Tony was able to fabercatie it in IM2 to save his life.
    [/QUOTE]

Uru is what Thor's hammer is made of. It doesn't appear similar to the Tessaract/cube element at all. The hammer is a solid lump of metal...the cube is glowing blue.
I just figured it powered the armor because it was electricity, nothing more.

Of course. New York isn't New Orleans.

I know I've seen Loki swordfight Thor more than once. He's not nearly as strong, but strong enough to make a fight of it.

Loki was awesome. But in no way did they suggest he was de-powered.
Well, compared to the comics, he is. Loki wouldn't need an alien staff to shoot little destructo bolts.

I would have liked to see if Loki still has the Casket of Ancient Winters. He could have used that during the battle.

I could swear he did call her Tasha at least once.
