I believe it adapts to the user's thoughts. So Kaine imagined that color scheme on a subconscious level.

"David Walton", isn't the suit made out of unstable molecules?

Oh, so I haven't lost anything after spider island, the story goes straight to scarlet spider, right? He just wanted those colors. Cool, I can live with that. It's just that I first read scarlet spider and then SI and I was "so he got the costume, and then what?"

    I don't know...but Kaine is certainly unstable!

I actually don't think there's an official in book explanation as to why the suit changed colors out of the blue BUT If I remember correcty Yost did say that an explanation would come eventually just not really soon as it's not something vitally important that needs to be explained right away.

Sasha, at least, must be. According to the Kraven family tree in ASM #567, she was born in 1924.

I really enjoyed Scarlet Spider 5. This continues to be my go-to fix for 90s style action without the narrative excesses.

Kaine and Layton work well together as a mismatched anti-hero/cop team. This issue has some of the best dialogue yet. The action flows nicely, even though I miss Stegman. My only real complaint is the spoilers:
Kaine can now talk to spiders
end of spoilers deus ex machina.

But all in all, still an A+ in my book!

No time for love! Kaine's a little busy with the whole saving Houston from nuclear annihilation thing.

Poor Kaine. How does Peter Parker have so many love interests, but Kaine has no one

A great issue!!! Kaine has jokes oh he's he does. Iron man no need to make a visit with scarlet spider on the job. The cop was pretty cool. Kaine can talk to spiders can Pete do that? Next issue the guild will come into play. Edwards did a soild job . I really don't see why they have to censor !!its rated T+ 5/5

    spoilers:
I love that Kaine is getting all of Peter's defunct Other powers. Also really enjoyed the bit with Kaine sitting in the patrol car with Layton just oddly amusing.
    end of spoilers

I don't know what it is that keeps me so drawn to this book. It's fun, but their's a little more to it. Watching Kaine push boundaries and really struggle with a desire to be better, but an attitude built from years of ruthless survival tactics.
