Default The Amazing Spider-Man film, Gwen Stacy and You

It's been a trend that whenever a superhero film comes out, the comics will fire up storylines or occurences which will run somewhat parralel in tone or character cast as a support act of sorts. When Spider-Man 2 was in cinemas, Doc Ock was the main villain in a multi-part story line which had him in an outfit very similar to what he wore in the film. When Spider-Man 3 was out and had Tubby MacGuire dealing with the alien symbiote, Spidey was in the black costume in the comics. With The Avengers out right now, there's the Avengers Assemble comic book which has a line up exactly like the one in the film.
And with the Amazing film coming, there's a Lizard focused storyline coming up.

But! As those who have been following the film development know, Peter's love interesting in this film isn't Mary Jane but Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone.
So, do you think this means there may be some storylines on the horizon coincidentally addressing the Stacy legacy? Jackal is still running about after all. I'm not sure myself, just throwing the thought out there.

It's always possible. I think Slott's first Spidey comic was a reprint of the issue where Captain Stacy died, so I'm pretty sure he has a soft spot for the Stacys and their legacy.

Maybe the 'Dying Wish' storyline is about a letter Gwen left behind for Peter, which then leads into Peter confronting Norman in #700 and possibly foregoing his promise that no one dies on his watch.

    We're getting a Lizard story.

Dan Slott has said multiple times he does not want to bring Gwen Stacy back as long as he has a say in it.

I myself think we're going to see the reverse. That the new movie franchise is setting up Gwen Stacy to kill her. Maybe not in this first one but the sequel that is sure to have The Green Goblin. (After all, "Oscorp" is going to play a role in these movies.)

    To keep things in perspective.

The Thor comics didn't rush Jane Foster back to Thor's love interest when the movie came out. Thor was with Sif.

The Captain America comics didn't set-up any special Peggy Carter story (actually, they had Peggy die of old age).

Betty Ross wasn't revived in the Hulk comics at any point to tie into the movies. She was revived after both the Ang Lee and the Incredible movies had come and gone from theaters.

Could we see something dealing with the Stacy legacy? It's possible. But it sure doesn't appear to be a revived Gwen. (Although we could have another clone-Gwen.)
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

I agree with your end point. I used the words "Stacy legacy" because I personally don't see her actually being revived, and I really hope there's no more clones.

They could always bring back Arthur, Paul, and Jill Stacy, but I don't think anyone outside of Howard Mackie has any interest in them.

Although they could always do a Gwen and/or George mini-series with them as the focus like "Death and Destiny" did with George.

...how? Seriously, Gwen was barely a character to start with, let alone a better one than MJ.

Like always, it's a matter of opinion. Personally, I like and think the blonde more than the redhead, but that's all.

Dying Wish obviously has to do with the movie. It will probably feature the Lizard AND have something to do with Gwen. Though I'm thinking that a Lizard story is going to happen, even if it's not dying wish. But seriously, I think we do not have to talk about it, it's THAT certain. Remeber back in black?

They've openly solicited a Lizard story, dude. We even know the artist involved.

sorry, didn't caught that. I try to avoid solicitations, interviews, previews and stuff. I love when everything (as much as can be) is a surprise.

Yeah...and MJ is alive to boot. You can't have fun with a corpse.
