Default Project CBRunway 7: Challenge 6

    CHALLENGE 6: AVENGERS, ADAPT!

    This is Project CBRunway
. You're either in or you're out. Who will be CBR’s next big comic costume and character designer?

Good afternoon, designers. Welcome back to the runway.

The much-anticipated Avengers movie opens tonight in wide-release in the US. OMG! And I'm already hoping for a sequel with even more characters!

For your sixth challenge you must adapt two Avengers from the comics to the movie-verse: Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym. The Wasp is self-explanatory, but each of Hank Pym's costumed identities (Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket) may only be claimed by a single designer. Designers will post a number, between 1 and 4, on a first-come, first served basis, and be randomly assigned one of these identities. That means lose the non-descript spandex and create two character designs that would work on screen while remaining identifiable and true to the character. You'll really need to pay attention to construction, texture, detail, color, etc.. Feel free to "cast" each character, using an established actor and actress as the basis for your character. For this challenge you may either use the size guidelines below (two separate images 550-pixels wide by 800-pixels long) OR you may present both charcters in a simgle image of the same size. All submissions should include a three-sentence description of each costume explaining, to the best of your ability, material, functionality, design inspiration, etc.

    Submission Requirements

    1. Artwork may be done in any medium but must be in color.
    2. Artwork may be no larger than 550-pixels wide and 800-pixels long. For challenges requiring multiple characters, each character should be submitted separately.
    3. Entries must be inserted into your PM, using such services as Photobucket.com or imageShack.com. If you are unable to use such a service you may e-mail your entry and we will host the image for you for the duration of the competition.
    4. All submissions should include a three-sentence description of the costume explaining, to the best of your ability, material, functionality, design inspiration, etc. Do not provide any additional information such as biographies or power descriptions unless requested.

You have only five days, through midnight PDT of Monday, May 7 to Private Message (PM) me your entries for that week’s Challenge. Be sure to select “Request a read receipt for this message” in the Miscellaneous Options section before sending so you know I've received it. There will be no extensions or exceptions.

Post any questions, comments, or concerns about this challenge in this thread. The voting thread will be posted this coming Tuesday.

    Make it work!

And non-contestants, be sure to Play Along at Home adapting Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch!

I know, right? I think next season we should switch roles. I'll run it and you can participate. *evil grin*

I had a fun idea for the shoulder discs. If you have One Billion Dollars I will give it to you. :)

Hey, matt, can we have some backstory space for this one? You KNOW you're gonna wanna know how these characters are a touch different from your beloved comic book heroes! :)
