Bad girl books, comics that are sexy while entertaining, sexy topic

One of the elements I like in comics from time to time is sexiness, comics featuring hot chicks with quality art in a book that is genuinely entertaining and worth reading. "Bad girl" comics being a big chunk of that scene, but they don't have to fit that niche. Pretty much, what are some good comics that are also sexy?

Of course Hack/Slash is a great comic that has some sexiness, Witchblade too, Bomb Queen, Catwoman, etc. And as far as being hot while genuinely entertaining, Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose has got to be the top.

Other than that, what else is out there and worth reading in the hot action women subgenre? Or even a prominent character if not the lead. I find a lot of the bad girl comics just aren't all that entertaining. I kind of dig some of the current Vampirella stuff, but it seems a lot of the "bad girl" genre is in a place where it's very serious and not having a lot of fun. When looking at previews or flipping through recent Lady Death books for example, or Red Sonja, it seems they have a straightforwardness and lack of quirkiness that doesn't really look that entertaining.

For Lady Death readers who are reading this post, does any character ever point out she's a hot woman in a bikini?

I dunno, what do you think readers? What's some good stuff?

I find a lot of the bad girl comics just aren't all that entertaining. I kind of dig some of the current Vampirella stuff, but it seems a lot of the "bad girl" genre is in a place where it's very serious and not having a lot of fun. When looking at previews or flipping through recent Lady Death books for example, or Red Sonja, it seems they have a straightforwardness and lack of quirkiness that doesn't really look that entertaining.

That's because you're only skimming through the books, so you tend miss stuff.

Honestly, both Lady Death and Red Sonja are very similar in tone to the other books you mentioned. They differ in that they're much more violent (frequent blood and gore), and they tend to be very action-driven, but otherwise they aren't that terribly different characters than Vampirella, Catwoman, and Tarot as far as being ladies you don't to be on the bad side of. Neither are quirky and off-beat, but they both do know how to have fun doing what they do. In particular, Lady Death is a much more rounded character now than in previous incarnations--she's still tough and fierce in battle, but seems to posses more humility now and will even engage in brief witty banter (with friends and foes alike) on occasion. To a lesser extent, that's also true with Red Sonja, but she is by nature a more serious and darker character.

For Lady Death readers who are reading this post, does any character ever point out she's a hot woman in a bikini?

The thing about the Lady Death universe is that it's largely a savage and barbaric world populated mostly by monsters and demons. She fits in perfectly there. Modesty isn't as heavily prized.

Does she ever smile?

Yes. But one usually would be wise to start running for the hills when she does.

i would strongly recommend the 6 issue Angelus Mini Series from a year or 2 ago by ron marz and art by stehpen sejic, Really Great story (even better if you had been reading witchblade up to it) great characters, GREAT ART and a really great lesbian love scene that while beautful and sexy never seems explotative or there just to turn the reader on (while it could certiantly do so), its about the characters and there passion (Fans of Batwoman and the arc of her sexuality will be a fan of this book)

Even in the setting of the book, just saying it's always wacky to me when characters never notice, it'd be more relatable to me as a reader if that happened. Maybe Power Girl just made me appreciate that kind of writing, ha I dunno. Are the other cast members dead? Just for me, selling somewhat on sex appeal when it doesn't really come up in the story is missing potential. Also I have read the first Red Sonja omnibus, I like some Sonja but am more of a Conan fan, again oddly enough Conan is more of a fun read for me. Those titles are pretty different from what I dig about say Tarot and Catwoman. But pretty much, I'm wondering what some other comics are that might fit the bill. There's gotta be some hidden gems out there.

Right on, I'll definitely check that out. Love Witchblade, and checking out the other stuff by that team is definitely something I should do. Also, if the story is good and entertaining, I don't mind if it's exploitative.

Zenescope specialises in this.

Personally, I recommend against Grimm Fairy Tales, despite being their flagship title. Most of their other series are quite good, though.

I especially recommend the Wonderland titles. A great horror/cheesecake title, combining sexiness with Lovecraftian horror. I love it.

It's a different world with different values. They don't point or giggle over stuff like that as people in our world do.

Taste is a personal thing. To me, the sex appeal is just a flavoring of that particular fantasy world (or simple eye candy) and really shouldn't be a focus of the story. During the '90s, there were a few bad girl books I bought that were simply horrible because they didn't have anything to balance the T&A.

Also I have read the first Red Sonja omnibus, I like some Sonja but am more of a Conan fan, again oddly enough Conan is more of a fun read for me. Those titles are pretty different from what I dig about say Tarot and Catwoman.

I think the only difference is that they're more intense in the violence department than Tarot and Catwoman.

But pretty much, I'm wondering what some other comics are that might fit the bill. There's gotta be some hidden gems out there.

I'd recommend Ghost (from Dark Horse Comics). A very young Ivan Reis became the regular artist on the title halfway through its initial run and it showcases his early bad girl art style prior to joining DC. But you might not like it if you're mainly looking for titilation, because it's really more of a gothic/supernatural horror series with some rather long unfolding mysteries thrown in for good measure.

Agreed Ghost is definitely a cool comic. But yeah, it's all personal taste, let's keep listing titles so we've got a good resource of 'em.

Another one I didn't mention is Danger Girl: Revolver, one of the best since the original I'd say.

I don't think it's necessary to do that unless the story calls for an amorous character. Otherwise, it's written appropriately for the world those characters live in.

Well, as I said earlier, Red Sonja is inherently a darker character because of her background and occupation. She's only playful when there's an opportunity to be so, but as someone who's frequently fighting for her life (or the lives of others) in a kill-or-be-killed situation, those moments are correctly rare. But I do think that Lady Death--at least in her current incarnation--is comparable to Catwoman and Tarot in personality these days.

But yeah, it's all personal taste, let's keep listing titles so we've got a good resource of 'em.

There was a series called Fatale from the short-lived Broadway Comics. Created by Jim Shooter, she was a busty babe with superpowers, but done in a very realistic way, IMO--she could get hurt, have a black eye and busted nose for several days, and she didn't always know what she was doing. Additionally, the fact that she did have big boobs (and sometimes they were in the way) was addressed a couple of times in this series, leading her to eventually get an outfit that gave her girls more support.

That's the first thing I thought of too. The fairy tale Wonderland stuff is good, and the recent Jungle Book comic is interesting too. They've got an interesting mix of hot chick, fantasy, and horror in their titles.
