I've been doing research on Avengers the last few weeks since my site is doing an Avengers week theme, and I'm surprised by this list too. For sure I thought Under Seige would be number 1. Little surprised how high Ultimates is too.

Lots of recent stories that I haven't read on this list. (I think the most recent I've read was "Breakout", and while I enjoyed it well enough, it wouldn't make my list.)

Nice to see "Nights of Wundagore" on there; that'd be my pick for #1.

While I may not agree personally with all the choices, or their ranking, I find this particular list much more thought out and realistic:

Also, not a list per say, but a lot of good suggestions right from this very same forum.

I love lists in genearl and liked both the IGN and Vault lists. While Civil War is unlikely to make my list, I certainly couldn't say it doesn't belong on someone else's. I thought both lists mentioned several stories that I wouldn't necessarily have thought of and that was fun.

Wrong, definitively wrong. Really, if IGN is going to continue doing Avengers lists, they definitely need to getr people who have actually read Avengers.

More or less the way I feel too, plus Millar's Ultimates at #2? They're good, but I don't think they're THAT good.
I liked Bendis on DD and USM, but none of his Avengers work belongs in a Top 25 list IMO.
I laughed at the IGN comment on the first New Avengers storyarc (#17) though:
Bendis' Avengers run has certainly been a success, and it's one that is only now reaching its climax. But in a lot of ways, the series and its various offshoots were never more fresh and exciting than at the very beginning.

Yes, that one is much better (though it's not hard to top IGN lists). I wouldn't list them in that order, but the choices are very good (even though Operation: Galactic Storm is missing).

Yeah, pretty much. I can understand Bendis' work being in the list since it's both recent, popular and of passable quality... but GLA *and* Pet Avengers?!? wtf indeed.

Pet Avengers is better than anything Bendis has done on the title.

Not a good list. A lot of other avengers storylines far better than what they come up with - Pet avengers ? GLA ?! WTF!

Fairly ropey list there IGN editors! What happened to the Nefaria trilogy? Under Seige and The Korvac Saga should be right up there, What about the bride of Ultron?...I'm sure there a load more too, just cant remember off the top of my head!!!

I love how much the Thunderbolts play in "the Greatest Arcs"
    #24 - Thunderbolts/Avengers crossover
    #23 Civil War (Thunderbolts involved)
    #11 Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers
#3 Under Siege (featuring all the founding Thunderbolts; in their most famous outing as the Masters of Evil)

I could even count #25 as a pre-Thunderbolts originating concept (redeeming former villains) and a nod to Avengers Forever for Songbird (written by the original Thunderbolts writer Kurt Busiek

Also THRILLED the Young Avengers made the "Top 10"
"I don't know how to please you Lord, but I think the fact I try to please you, pleases you."
