I for one have not liked how Fraction has written Danny. I first noticed it during the immortal Iron Fist series that Danny was a little aloof and even silly/goofy at times. and when that great team left so did Danny's aloof personality during the final arc of the series. Now that Fraction has written him by himself in the Defenders, Danny seems a little too dumb. I just get the impression that Brubaker reigned in the "dumbing down of Iron Fist" that Fraction has imposed.
Amyway I am not going to complain too much because i am glad that Fist is being used at all. This series has several b-listers that are very interesting characters. Strange, Fist and Namor each have so much potential and dept to them that a great writer can work wonders. So far Fraction has not been that writer in my opinion. I am still going to support the title but I guess I expected more honestly.
I did love that the Confederates were being used in the flashbacks. I do not like that the immortal weapons have been killed but they could be resurrected or the next generation of weapons will come. I guess they may end up gunning for the Prince of Orphans.
Just got done re reading issue 5 and reading 6.
Right now Defenders is the only book, besides Invincible, I pick up and am always satisfied. I have no idea where this is going but it is written with great dialogue and filled with mystery.
There are so many great moments. I like how it is acknowledged Strange is an oddball to be traveling around with the adventures.
The scene with Danny and surfer on the phone was great, as well as Danny and Strange talking about women. I really like how the engine makes them not able to say certain words or recall certain things.
How will Black Cat fit into all this? She seems like a wild card with everybody else.
I was under the impression from Mighty Thor that Surfer lost the power cosmic and was no longer a Herald, but maybe I just mis interpreted.
Only complaint is Crandall shirt color I guess? Maybe its on purpose? I just hope this series continues to keep me this exited and keeps me thinking as much.

I think the white costume is going to become the "thing" for Iron Fist.![]()

Randall's wearing a white sweater/pullover with what appear to be green khaki trousers. I don't think it means anything.
What amuses me is how both he and Danny will charge up their Iron Fist powers for no reason except that a glowing fist makes a good flashlight.
I think Danny's becoming the team comic relief, which is a little sad. But you'll notice he was the one Strange confided in about bringing Martha back to life.
Am I just missing something, or is there no "credits page" in this issue?

I like the Defenders., a fresh book of super heroes without any Avengers crap., Nice to see the Silver Surfer.
Surfer didn't lose the Power Cosmic. After the Events In Mighty Thor. Galactus had the Surfer Teethered to the Earth to so when the Earth "Dies" he would have the Galactus Seed. The Surfer could always make himself humoniod looking. Anyways, the Further the Surfer strays from Earth, the weaker he gets. So on Earth, he's fully powered.
Actually, based on the previous issue, Namor's last series and the Fear Itself tie in mini, The Deep, Namor is probably having issues being the King of Atlantis, while maintain friendly relations with the surface dwellers. The ancient crazy mermaids from last issue effectively said as much, with him not doing enough to defend their realm for outside interference, so they will go on their own and do such.
That being said, aside from last issue, Namor doesn't get a lot of love in this series, but since Fraction has shifted toward a smaller group getting the focus of individual issues instead of packing in various characters, the story has been a lot more enjoyable, hope this continues.
But who exactly on the team is friends with the Black Cat?
Hmm, I guess they are really pushing her mercenary thief angle these days but these must be a different set of golden frogs cause the last ones I remember were meant and used for time travel in the pages of Black Panther.
But that is just classic Namor, in almost any book from the pages of Uncanny X-Men, Fantastic Four or anything, he always steals the best lines
