Not every story has to have world-altering consequences but regardless of that this was not a very satisfying mini. The execution worked in some places. I enjoyed Rachel trying to get a handle of the situation, some parts with the supporting cast, Quentin steadily falling apart as the situation escalated and Logan's interactions with Armor. But even though the story steadily ramps up, we don't really have any sort of pay off other then Quire turning into a puddle and Logan and Armor doing their best to survive a situation in which they have absolutely no control in. Even Rachel stops being proactive after she can't get through Quire. All this mini accomplished was that Quire is incredibly powerful but immature and easily falls apart if things get out of control. There aren't really any new ideas presented and played around with. I enjoyed the dialogue and the execution for the most part but this wasn't a story. It was more like a scene that got stretched out into what should have been a story.
Nice art though. Enjoyed the two different styles that were used.
Oh, I take it back. The video-game as a mental illusion is a sort of newish idea for the x-books. It was used semi-interestingly but it wasn't enough.
