Not every story has to have world-altering consequences but regardless of that this was not a very satisfying mini. The execution worked in some places. I enjoyed Rachel trying to get a handle of the situation, some parts with the supporting cast, Quentin steadily falling apart as the situation escalated and Logan's interactions with Armor. But even though the story steadily ramps up, we don't really have any sort of pay off other then Quire turning into a puddle and Logan and Armor doing their best to survive a situation in which they have absolutely no control in. Even Rachel stops being proactive after she can't get through Quire. All this mini accomplished was that Quire is incredibly powerful but immature and easily falls apart if things get out of control. There aren't really any new ideas presented and played around with. I enjoyed the dialogue and the execution for the most part but this wasn't a story. It was more like a scene that got stretched out into what should have been a story.

Nice art though. Enjoyed the two different styles that were used.

Oh, I take it back. The video-game as a mental illusion is a sort of newish idea for the x-books. It was used semi-interestingly but it wasn't enough.

I was not a fan. I read the first 3 issues and dropped it.

I'm just glad that Wood brushed up on his Foucault before writing the story.

This comic was all about Kid Omega cementing his position as top telepath at the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning. It was an enjoying read.

I can agree with that. I've become a huge Quire fan and kind of see this miniseries as being something of his first solo book. I hope that it did okay in terms of sale numbers.

He should have stabbed him for real. If some little shit did that to me he'd definately get a face full of bezerker.

Needed more psychic shotgun, but was pretty enjoyable since I pretty much expected no major changes. Quintin getting one over Logan and then pretty much succeeding even after he failed was interesting, and I love that Armor got some much needed screen time.

This series needed less Armor and Wolverine in the post-apocalyptic boreverse and way way more Quire interacting with Bling! and Rachel, and Karma dissing people

I liked it. Quire turning from a arrogant, vain teenager (basically my little brother right now) until realising he's a complete tool was good. I wonder if he'll have the character change in WATXM.
The beserker didn't do anything, would have been better if he was more of a threat or something. Ending was a bit lacklustre, but did fit the story and the characters properly.

I quite liked the art even with the dramatic gear shifting between scenes, most of it was good. Some not so good shots of Rachel, but overall was fine.

Well put. Every x-book could use that.

There was this great movie from the late sixties called ‘If,’ directed by Lindsay Anderson and starring Malcolm McDowell. It’s a wild, subversive, and dark movie and was most definitely a huge influence on Grant Morrison’s development of the Quinten Quire character as well as the whole ‘Riot at Xavier’s’ storyline.
With Quire’s initial story ending the way it did, I wasn’t expecting to see him again – it was a rather definitive end. Although I was glad that Jason Aaron decided to bring the character back, I was pretty curious as to how he could possibly be developed any further than what had occurred in ‘Riot at Xavier’s.’
This story (Alpha / Omega) did a great job of showing what can be done with him, not just in the development of the character, but also in the exploration of his power set. When Franklin Richard create a new reality, when Fantomex devises an illusion, or when Emma alters the perceptions of other, it’s just done and the process involved is left unexplained. Here, however, Wood explores the process and what goes into the new reality building, basing it off of game theory and the structuralistic paradigm of reality. Very cool stuff.
