I can't see how getting more people covered on health insurace is a bad thing. I personally think there are more efficient ways to handle health care. Other counties like Switzerland and Australia have shown there are better ways of doing it. But the previous way of doing business just wasn't working and I'm glad Obama actually did something about it. And I'm glad the Supreme Court upheld it. I expect there will probably be a lot more tweaks over the years, but I can't see too much bad coming from getting more people covered.

If you listen to fox news and the vast republican majority. This is the beginning of the end.
    It is!

    FOR THEM!!!

and yeah there are better ways of doing it. I remember hearing the French system is the best system of healthcare in the world ... although America has the number one response time. So at least we're number one in that respect.

The other thing is that this should never have been a Right vs Left thing but those damn Republicans just didn't want to stop. They had to make it a them vs an Obama thing.

I thought for sure that this would be voted down, but it made it through by a 5 to 4 vote and the deciding factor came from a Justice who was appointed in by a Republican who was suppose to turn down the healthcare but shocked everybody by voting for it. Maybe there is some hope for these wacky Republicans afterall.

Bullshit. Why should we have to pay for some alcholic to get placed on a liver transplant list because he made stupid choices in life? I agree that America's healthcare was in poor shape, but this was not the way to go.

Oh and before you ask, no, I'm not a Republican. I probably would have voted for Obama last election.

    Damn this looks epic!

Ever since the days of George W. Bush, republicans have become the party that are most likely to contain supervillains. I think that if we went into any comic series, especially the Ultimate series, the most sinister characters would be registered republicans. They talk about personal responsibility and limited government, but then they talk about stuff like regulating what you can and can't do with your body and what you can and can't do in your bedroom. They're anti-science, anti-gay, and anti-free speech when it comes to profanity and pornography. In my book, that's called hypocrisy. Now the demoncrats may be a joke, but if they were villains they would be horribly inept villains that even the worst superheroes could handle on their worst day. Until the republicans evolve beyond the Rush Limbaughs and Michelle Bachmanns of the party, they will continue to be hypocrites in the highest regard. I don't know if anyone here is familiar with the 9 layers of hell as described in Dante's Inferno, but hypocrites were relegated to one of the lowest realms in Hell and for good reason.

Ultimate Marvel did have the 2nd Ghost Rider/Vengeance as the President, so your regards as democrats being horribly inept villains is pretty funnily true. Also oh please, Dante's Inferno is nothing more than a middle aged man's frusfration on the social class system and not getting over his childhood love. Read the bible if you wanna talk about Hell.

Maaan, Batman Incorporated #2 was a wonderful origin tale for Talia al Ghul, seeing Ras' al Ghul again was nice too, not to mention him finally being proud of his daughter. Talia's crazy face and Bruce's shock at child making was hilarious, but this panel just steals the show:

Dark Knight #10 begins Hurwitz's run, while good, it still shows how you got people simply making villains more "extreme", because it's hip and cool, heh. :/ Teen Titans (and Superboy while we're at it) are back to being good fun, nomore of that Culling stuff! Me like!

Holy cow, Saga #1 is great. I'm definitely jumping on board.

Of course, I've gotta make sure to read it at home and not at work. I'm glad my boss wasn't around yesterday, because I was not expecting so many alien boobies to appear on my screen.

Anyways, what really stood out to me about this book was the dialogue. Bendis gets a lot of attention for his realistic dialogue, but this issue reminds me that BKV is the true master. My favorite line:

You'll never have sex with me again if I defecate on you. Unless you're into that. (Please don't be into that.)
The setting has me hooked as well. This universe is like the result of a threesome between Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, and Grant Morrison. I can't get enough of it.

Without a doubt, I'm buying issue #2 the next time I find $2 to spare.

Nowadays, the definitions of right-wing and left-wing have had so many meanings, they've pretty much lost all meaning. It seems to mean different things to different people. I'm from the UK and so I'm not even entirely sure what Republican means. If you're a Republican does that mean your right-winged? I thought right wing VS left wing had something to do with intelligence and/or creative thinking. Or it was to do with mannerisms. It all seems so strange to be. Is a left winged person a liberal or something? What the hell does that mean? That they're anti-government? That they're hippies? I really have no idea what Americans are on about when they talk about right wing and left wing in politics. Does it actually mean anything?

Yeah, "left vs right" and "liberal vs conservative" definitely have different meanings in the US.

"Right-wing" = conservative, generally associated with the center-right Republican party. Proponents of small government, lassiez-faire economics, aggressive foreign policy, and traditional Judeo-Christian social stances. Typically characterized as Nazis, racists, and old rich white guys.

"Left-wing" = liberal, generally associated with the center-left Democratic party. Proponents of government-run social programs, blended economy, less aggressive foreign policy, and secular social policies. Typically characterized as hippies, Socialists, and young rich white guys.

Unfortunately, with only two parties to choose from, there's not much of a middle ground, so politics are especially divisive. There's a single line in the sand, and you kinda have to pick a side.

Kinda sucks. Gotta wait until Tuesday to get Spider-Men #2 cause my comic shop doesn't usually get comics until around that time...

Also, I read ASM #688, and it seems like I'm missing A LOT of story. I came into ASM around #665. I am SO out of the loop right now. xD

I had a dream last night that I watched a trailer for "X-Men: First Class 2." My disappointment upon awakening was awful.

He supports the Venus Project, he seems to be emergent to new findings, is pro-science and claims to believe in a resource based economy. I have no idea how much weight that has but I'm at least happy that he has seemed so. I've heard a lot of negative things said about him and I'm not sure if they're true or not. I usually feel sorry for political leaders as they get all the blame for the things that are entirely out of their hands. They possess a lot less power than many believe. They're mostly used to make the public feel like they have a leader and to they're also the one everyone blames when the government have been naughty. Our presidents and prime ministers have to answer to people higher up than them. And then they have to answer to the banks. I know there have been some very corrupt political leaders in America but it hasn't ever just been one man. In the UK, Tony Blair was a really good prime minister for quite some time. But then he was forced to lead his country into war, which ruined his status as a 'good' politician. He also struggled horribly with immigration, but to be fair, that's hardly feasible for any man in politics to solve. Huge, epic problems that are entirely out of their hands. They often have no say in the matter and yet they get all the blame. I'm not just saying this to you Jer, you probably know this already anyway.

I don't know a lot about Obama. But when he first came into power, he said it was the people in Afghanastsn that were the real victims. Not us. This is completely true and I'm both glad and pleasantly surprised to hear him say that. I heard he's corrupt. But how is he anymore corrupt than any other political leader? He seems alright to me.
