Worlds' Finest #1 was great. Both the past and present sequences were fun and superbly illustrated by Maguire and Perez. I can't wait to see the girls in their new adventures and what they have been up to for the past five years. Since Huntress and Power Girl are new to this world, I wonder whether they ever acted as Robin and Supergirl during the five year gap. I'm sure everyone hates PG's costume; the one in the original solicitations was much better, but I'm sure this will be corrected soon.

I just read this tonight. I liked the art, I liked the characterizations, and I hated Power Girl's new costume. Hopefully the Irradiated Man burns it off of Karen in issue #2.

Because showing Karen nearly naked in tattered clothing is apparently fine.

Which makes me wonder why a boob-window apparently isn't.

I'm not going to try to comprehend the logic of that.

I like the pairing of Power Girl and Huntress.

It was a great book but it felt a little too short like the adventure was just starting to begin.

You thought? I actually had to go back and count the pages because it felt a lot denser than its 20 pages.

And I loved #1. Easily the best thing Levitz has written since he gave up the top job a while back. And the artwork by Perez and Maguire was as good as I was expecting from them. This went from a 'probably' buy to a definite one. Easy 8/10.

And Worlds' Finest had something not a lot of DC's books have for me this days---it was just simply fun!

WF was great. Loved how the art changed between flashbacks and modern day. My only quibble is PG's costume... a big "meh" from me. Otherwise this was a great "buddy" book that delivered the action. Amd curious how the guy in the cliffhanger is or turns out to be.

    I agree with Arnoldo, PLUS:

    • Helena makes it through the wormhole/whatever conscious, but Karen does not. Do I detect the all-powerful Batgod at work?
    • the gratuitous "golly, my clothes are torn" shot
    • Helena steals from someone she doesn't know, when it would be child's play for Karen to get them both a whole wad o' money, be it from squeezing coal or cruising the subways of the world and gathering up fallen loose change. But no, stealing make Helena cooler.

Still it's Karen/Peege (I'm assuming she's going to start out here as "Karen" so as to minimalize confusion with E0's resident Kara), and no one's making fun of her. Yet. I'll stay tuned.

Excellent summary, Flashpoint. Worlds' Finest was good fun for me. I look forward to more witty banter and lovely art for months to come.

I think it was the dialogue that killed it for me. It wasn't especially witty, and aside from a slight difference of opinion about their current situation, there wasn't any notable difference between either of the main characters. They seemed to be written as two wholly generic 'girlfriends', rather than as believable, individual characters. It just came across as a little bland and obvious.

then Kara uses her "scientific knowledge?" to build her own company to build a machine to go back to her own earth
    ...
    why?

and then she suddenly becomes a superhero, NOW
    ...
    why?

she never bother to use her powers to help ANYONE

this is something that i thought a lot before the issue even came out and this didnt do anything to clarify
the use of Mr Terrific's awful version of Kara was a terrible idea

I just have no idea where this is going, i feel like this is going to be a Guiligan Island scenario, basically all the issues will be about trying to leave the island, and they will never leave it as a rule
Kara and Helena(or Hel) will never go back to E2, and if they do the title is canceled
and is almost made worse by the fact that Mr Terrific did it, and had the capacity to do it all the time, but Kara never asked him for whatever reason
I actually agree with all of this. I enjoyed the issue, but I think it was incredibly stupid to use the Kara from the abysmal Mister Terrific book. I can't buy that Supergirl from any reality would covet her powers all that time and not help those in need. I would think that she'd at least try to make contact with our Superman too. This is where the whole premise kind of falls apart for me. I enjoyed the issue, but the book does need work.

I think it was incredibly interesting to use that Kara. One of the most intriguing qualities about this Karen, to me, is her complete lack of interest in acclimating herself to this Earth in any way shape or form, unlike Helena. She's completely closed of from it, not even using her powers to help this world in her time here, until now. Selfish and self-absorbed? Sure. Not at all understandable and evil? Hardly. She wants to go home, period, and all her time has focused on that. And why I like this aspect so much is because its a great opportunity to have, as part of the character's growth process, her finally begin to gain a fondness for this Earth, a fondness which I think is highly likely to have already been growing but she's been ignoring. I very much look forward to seeing the path to her actually acknowledging Prime Earth as her home.

    This.

Unlike others, I do not, even for a second, thought that I KNOW this new Karen Starr. She's not supposed to be this and that 'coz I didn't put her in a box!

1- you could argue that Hel survived the impact cause of the plane while Kara took the full blow of it
2- is Powergirl and she is now using a suit that covers her all, it was necesary to show skin on the first episode to say good bye, who knows when we are going to be able to stare at her boobs, but we will try anyways
3- well she is the daughter of Catwoman too

one of the things that actually calls my attention is how is that they managed to stay undercover for so long without ever encountering organizations like Stormwatch, much less making contact with Metropolis or Gotham

there was this kind of controvercy going on the begining of the New Krypton saga which was about the fact that Powergirl was completely separated from the Superman family titles, and the fact that she was completely absent from it and some thought it was stupid and make no sense but one of the ideas that realy stuck with me is this:
lets say your mom and dad die, and then you are transported to another world and just happens that in that other world there is not just another version of you but another version of your parents, whouldnt you like to meet them or even see them?
this was about the fact that the parents of Supergirl were reveal to be alive and on all of this Powergirl Never meets with them, hell she doesnt even meet with superman or lois at all and this was all cause of an editorial mandate, and the writers of superman titles ignore Powergirl and thse of Powergirl ignore Superman

i bring this up cause its pretty much the same scenario
Kara saw Superman die and she can accept that this one is not the same one but there should be at least some sense of curiosity to meet him
Even the fact that Helena might had meet this earth's Helena has some weight to it

    and Finaly
and i think is probably the MOST important reason why this attitude of "i dont care of E0" and Kara never used her powers, sucks so hard and makes NO SENSE
    is this

E2 was invaded by Apokolypse, right
then Kara and Hel arrive to Earth 0
    right
    then Apokolypse invades E0

where the f*** were they when that happen!!

the only excuse i can come out for this situation is that Hel grab a very old paper when she showed it to Kara
but seeing that the same invading force that trampled their home was now attacking their new place wouldnt they had try to warn someone
even if the events of JL1-6 happen way too fast to warn someone they could had reacted, they could even guess that they might get a way to return to their earth from the Apokolypse tech, even the JL

I think we will never see an answer to this and just like Pg in New Krypton there will be just an invisible wall that very conviniently will keep Worlds Finest in their side of the the sandbox

Question: If your family and friends were all killed and the planets all screwed up..... why would you want to go back?

Id be all, 'Ah !@#$ it, hey look dads only 20 here! lets go start over here cause we would have had to anyways if we were still back home.'
