I certainly hope so but the character has'nt debuted in the way that I was expecting so I'm disappointed. Still, as always I'm willing to give her a chance.
In the DCnU it is her first time.

I'm glad that you're still willing to give her a chance though. :)

I liked it. Liked the characterization and camaraderie between the two ladies. I do miss the Helena that was a lawyer, but she still seems to be the same smart girl (obviously since she's Batman's daughter.)
The art worked out better between the two than I had expected, not that I expected it to be bad...just more curious how the transition would work.

I have to agree with everything the reviewer said. I loved this book. Excellent, detailed characterisation, a strong interplay between the lead and some brilliant artwork from both Perez and Maguire. Both this book and Earth-2 were fantastic.

Those two books really do a fantastic job of telling an individual story in their own right while supporting a larger overall concept.

I don't know why it bothers me so much, but I find it really irritating that they used to be Robin and Supergirl. It just seems to kind of detract from the characters themselves, IMO. I'm picking this up to read about Huntress, but it feels like I'm reading about a Robin posing as Huntress.

I felt similar to Earth 2 in that I don't know if I'll stay with it, though I will give it a few issues. At least they're not rookie heroes, which seems to be the norm based on what I've looked at in the NuDC.

I actually sort of liked that they had those associations. It was nice to have the Huntress, for example, be the Batman's child again, I thought.

I did like the distinction Robinson made between the Earth 2 heroes and their main-stream counterparts, that they were a little older and more experienced than the heroes of DC's primary Earth.

This book has the capacity to be absolutely central to the new DC universe. It is going to be so interesting to watch as Power Girl and Huntress gradually integrate into the superhero community of the Earth they now live on - meeting Batman and Superman etc (and Supergirl!).

Although Karen has only just become Power Girl, I am assuming Helena has been Huntress for some time . . does that mean she was a member of Birds of Prey?

Again, loved the story, characterisation, art . . . just hated PG's costume!

I'll echo what some others have said. I'm a big Power Girl fan from back in the day, and as such I don't really like the characterization of this new Power Girl. But comparing the two is an exercise in futility. This is not the old Power Girl, it's a different character. And while I don't like her characterization, I do acknowledge that she acts in a consistent and realistic way for someone who has lost all their family and been stranded in a different dimension. She's doing anything and everything she can to get back home, including lie, cheat, and steal. That's believable.

The story and art were solid, and I think this was a good issue even if it wasn't the issue I wanted. I'm willing to give it time to grow on me.

Actually, I am going to disagree with you here, but only by a matter of degrees. Power Girl's characterization here did seem to contain elements from her initial characterization (a sort of independent hardcore element) that I thought harkened back to the days when Wally Wood was drawing the character.

I loved this issue.... I was iffy on the book, was really just gonna pick up issue one and see. It won me over.

    My one complaint:

Robin and Supergirl are falling after going through the boom tube..... Robin thinks about her training and goes into dive mode. She thinks about not wanting to lose her friend too.

    THEN

She yells her friends name UNDERWATER. Should have been a thought bubble. Other than that, great issue. Im adding it to the pull list for a bit.

Where some see an independent hardcore element others could see simple arrogance. It's a thin divide, and I'll allow that my opinion has to do more with the way I read it than the way it was written or intended.

I think, as she was initially written, Power Girl often did come across as arrogant. Indeed, it was occasionally a plot point. But that's what I mean when I say there do seem to be some core elements of the character that have been retained.

These two come off as INCREDIBLY selfish in order to fit the DCnU timeline. Even ignoring that, they just don't give a crap about this world.
Well, Helena does care a little.

She is trying to do good as the Huntress.

    Kara is another matter.

Even if she thought that E1 one heroes has stuff under control and she wasn't needed, the story made it seem that she didn't even lift a finger to help her fellow man for five years.

You would think a Supergirl (any Supergirl) would be running around the world saving folks and dashing of before she could be seen/photographed.

She could still make herself rich and do that.

    On earth 1, that is.

    Earth 2? Think that's a different story.

I wholeheartedly agree. Surprisingly, I liked this book, despite PG's new costume. I look forward to reading more (and hoping for an eventual costume change).

Starfire can. She destroyed 3 tanks inbetween panels while wearing purple tape over her nipples.
