Default Ultimate Marvel adaptions compared to other adaptions

How do the character adaptions from the Ultimate Marvel Universe, compare to other adaptions of existing comic book characters.

I don't think the UU ever successfully reinvented a villain, the way BTAS did with Mr. Freeze. I also like the Sebastian Shaw from X-Men First Class better then Ultimate Shaw. However I suppose Ultimate red Skull is better then movie Red Skull. Ultimate Red Skull is at least different, while movie Red Skull comes off as a watered down version of the regular Red Skull. Also I think Ultimate Doom is better then Movie Doom.

The Leader in Ultimate Human was really good.

Also I feel as though the Ultimate Universe has truly re-invented Hulk for the 21st Century. Ultimate Hulk is one of the things that makes the UU what it is. Better than 616..

Are we comparing UU characters to their movie counterparts or any and every universe/medium out there? Because I like to think that most UU versions are better than their movie/616/etc counterparts. Especially Peter Parker, Green Goblin, Nick Fury, Mysterio (though this is now up for debate, lol).

Any adaption really, be it movie or cartoon or something else. I would say for example that many members of Spidey's rogues gallery were better adapted in the recent Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon then in the UU. Spectacular Vulture is a better developed and more interesting villain then Ultimate Vulture. Same deal with Sandman, he is more interesting in that cartoon then in the UU.

I prefer Ultimate Venom to any and every other adaptation. The fact that he's man-made, especially by Peter's father no less, is far superior to the alien versions in almost every other medium he's portrayed in.

I loved Spectacular Spider-Man's version of Doc Ock, but again Ultimate was better.

Thor, definitely. While I loved the Thor movie, it was pretty faithful to the original. As far as an adaptation goes, Mark Millar nailed it.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!

I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others

I do like Ultimate Venom better then say movie Venom. But some of the ideas from the Ultimate Venom arc were first developed in the 90s cartoon, with the costume effecting Spidey's mood and Eddie Brock being introduced before Venom. I think the Ultimate version furthered what the cartoon did, which developed from the original Venom storyine in the comics, which was too rushed and convoluted in its introduction of Venom.

I think a problem with many of the Ultimate adaptions were they were interesting concepts rather then interesting characters. Like Ultimate Vulture, he was introduced he was an ex Shield agent, but for the most part he was written as a generic thug. The the concept was interesting, but nothing was really done with it.

I love the UU version of Reed. He's the geeky kid everyone beat up in high school and he turned that hate into something that could destroy the world as we know it and replace it with something potentially better. I would say he's a psychopath, but he seems to be beyond that. I also like UU Iron Man because I actually understand that character and what he does. I've tried getting into 616 iron man, but i still dont get who his villains are or what their purpose is or why he's even still being a hero other than being on the Avengers. Peter Parker is also 1000x more relatable in the UU as well.

Yeah, pretty much everything Balfro said. USM's Green Goblin is the definitive take on the character, imo. Venom's origin are wonderful. Nick Fury and Ultimate SHIELD really changed the game and gave the Ultimates a real world relevance unmatched by most other attempts.
Marriage Era Spidey bashers are shameful opportunists (Like you REALLY didn't enjoy a single Spidey comic in 20 years)
Conversely, BND haters REALLY need to get over their continuity elitism already

Nick Fury - Black, bold and badass. And he's Samuel L. f***ing Jackson for crying out loud!
Cap - About 15,000 times better than the 616 version. Ultimate Cap is THE Ultimate hero.
Kitty Pryde - The Ultimate Mutant Messiah! I Can't wait for DWF.
Wolverine - Ultimate Wolverine was IMO the best Wolverine ever. He was savage and primal. An absolute dog and a ruthless son of a bitch. Just how he should be.
SHIELD - Bigger and better. Nuff said.

All this plus Magneto, dude actually did what he always threatened to do in 616. I also agree that UU Red Skull is better.
    1) Find a bad guy
    2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!

Oh yah Red Skull is one of the best adaptations. I would say the worst was finding out that Baron Zeemo was Loki. that was disappointing but it had to be Loki or else the story wouldn't work.

I really can't think of a single Ultimate character that is better and I started comics with the Ultimate universe and it's the only comics I will follow blindly no matter how bad it gets :\

    EDIT: GELDOFF!!! :D
Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.

I actually don't Ultimate Magneto, at all. 616 Magneto seems like a 3 dimensional character, while Ultimate Magneto is a one dimensional bad guy, who twirls his mustache and eats puppies. Ultimate Magneto seems more like plot device then a real character. X-Men First Class wouldn't have worked if the Magneto character from the film was based on the UU version rather then the 616 version.

In terms of X-Men villain adaptions I liked in the UU would be Sinister, Mojo and Stryfe. Those characters were a bit flawed in the 616 universe, so there was more room for improvement in the UU.
